Reviews
"Pretty crazy to make a concentration camp where so many people were killed into a hotel. such little mention of the sad history of the island, pretty disturbing"
"Our experience was similar to many of the previous reviews... The location in proximity to the main settlement is great. I am only glad our stay wasn't in summer where it would have been unbearable due to the room not having air-conditioning. Room certainly wasn't cleaned very well, with previous debris from others in the shower stall, cobwebs evident. Maintenance seems hit and miss at this place... Look...for what it is and the tariff paid it is bearable... Owners should install split system air-conditioning in each room. This would make the stay much more comfortable, but it seems every review falls on deaf ears as nothing appears to change..."
"The atmosphere of the heritage building and the pool area is really nice, staff were excellent upon arrival and throughout my stay. The bar is well stocked and the restaurant was awesome. I loved my buffet breakfast and the chill atmosphere. I will be back."
"I was aware that the hotel was basic, no aircon, old decor. Which was fine, I was not expecting anything more, however, what I was expecting was clean, which is not a lot to ask. The room had probably only had a superficial clean after each guest. You know, change bedding, wipe down counters, rinse out glasses, that was it. The floor was so gritty, that you could not walk on it barefoot, as your feet go too dirty. The shower had not been cleaned properly. Only one bedside lamp. The Balcony, which would have been wonderful to sit on, however it was revolting. Bird poo all over the outside light, and in fact one morning I could not walk out onto the balcony, due to all the birds flying in the balcony. The screen sliding door/shutter had not been moved for a very long time as the cobwebs and dust attached was a sight to be seen. Stains on the seating cushions, which made it quite unpleasant to sit on. I heard, and I am not sure how true it is, that the lease has been terminated. If this is so, then you can see that the care value is less than zero, we actually left a night early as we could bear the thought of another night in a dirty room. The front desk were helpful, but I think a bit customer fatigued. The pool area was besieged with crows on the look out for an easy meal, and if you the customer, don't ask the staff to clear off a table, the crows on onto it in a second. the staff are definitely customer fatigued, which is a shame. I did not eat breakfast there, but my partner tried it one morning and it was awful. The only good thing about the hotel is the location, being so central to The Settlement. Would I stay there again, no, never."
