Thanks to the incredible efforts of Nature Based Play, our once weedy and degraded site has been transformed into a vibrant and exciting space for kids to explore and connect with nature. As you step into the Discovery Space, you'll be greeted by a range of engaging features. Children can scale rocks, construct their own cubbies, and even encounter a lifelike baby humpback whale and a thrilling snake sculpture. The enchanting fairy bridge and intricately carved creatures, such as the weedy seadragon, add a touch of magic and wonder to the surroundings.
Our commitment to preserving the natural environment is evident through our flourishing plantings. Last year's plantings have thrived, and we are excited to continue our efforts by planting more this year. None of this would have been possible without the inspiration and hard work of the Nature Based Play team. We extend our gratitude to the Town of Cottesloe for their unwavering support, as well as to our local MP Celia Hammond for the funding received from the Community Environment Fund.
From the initial stages of design and clearing to weeding, planting, constructing, carving, and creating, the journey to bring the Cottesloe Nature Discovery Space to life has been a labor of love. We are eagerly anticipating the moment when we can open the gates and invite everyone to embark on their own exploration of this incredible space.
