"At Loreto Nedlands my children benefit enormously by being at a school, which is one of only a few single stream Catholic schools in WA. In their early years they were shy, I believe that they benefited enormously by having mostly the same friends in each year from Kindergarten upwards. Giving them consistency and confidence to develop strong friendships which then increased their sense of belonging and confidence to make mistakes and learn in a warm safe environment. Loreto is a place where students know each other by name and are made to feel valued within the school. My boy in year 4 often talks about playing soccer or basketball with the year 2s & 3s at play times and knows them all by name. I think this fosters a sense of community and mateship, and provides those who are shy to blossom. The small community of Loreto Nedlands is warm, welcoming and wonderful to be a part of both for our boys and my husband and I."
"We have Japanese background and my son could only speak a few words in English when we came to Loreto two years ago. First day of school, he was so nervous and so was I. However the principal(Mrs. Hussey) and teachers welcomed us warmly. I will never forget the email which I received from the principal(Mrs.Hussey)who kept her eyes on him through the day. “ He had a most enjoyable play on the playground during recess and joined in very well with the other children. It has been a very positive start to the new school year.” I was very impressed with how much he is cared for and so relieved. Children at Loreto are very generous, caring and friendly. It didn’t take any time for my child to get along with them. He loves his friends so much and is excited to go to school each day. We also have special supports for students who speak English as an additional language. There are teachers who are the specialist about EALD(English as an Additional Language/Direct) at Loreto. They have organized a meeting for us and we could receive advices how to support my child to study English at home. If we have any concerns they are always welcoming us to talk about our child. I feel so blessed to have found such a wonderful school like Loreto."
