To apply for a Standby Taxi License, we require you to submit an MR319 Application for Issue of a Standby Taxi License. If you wish to lease or terminate a taxi license, please submit an MR320 Application to Commence or Terminate a Taxi Lease. Please note that all fees related to the lease or transfer must be paid, and a certificate and receipt must be issued by the Accreditation and Licensing Centre (ALC) for the application to be valid. It is important to know that ALC forms are only an application and do not constitute a binding agreement. Parties involved should seek legal advice and sign a separate agreement before completing the transaction.

All Taxi License applications must be submitted to the ALC. When you catch a taxi, the fare may vary depending on the time of travel. You are required to pay the metered fare, along with any booking fees or extra charges upon reaching your destination. Taxi fares are calculated based on a flagfall, distance rate, and waiting time. If the taxi is stopped or traveling at a slow speed, the waiting time is added to the fare instead of the distance rate.

Tariffs determine the rates for flagfall, distance, and waiting time, depending on the time of day and the number of passengers. In Adelaide, there are four tariff rates. Tariffs one and three apply to one to four passengers, while tariffs two and four apply to five passengers or more. Tariffs two and four have higher rates and are applicable between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.

Extra charges may appear on the taxi meter and are included in the fare. In South Australia, these charges may include country running with up to four passengers at $1.30 per kilometer each way, and waiting time at $44.60 per hour. Country running with over five passengers is charged at $1.71 per kilometer each way, with the same waiting time rate.

Multiple hiring of a taxi is designed for busy periods, allowing more people traveling in the same direction to reach their destinations quickly and at a lower cost per passenger. Payment for taxi fares can be made in various ways, including cash, EFTPOS, debit and credit cards, Cabcharge, or SATSS vouchers. Please note that there is a maximum non-cash payment surcharge of 5% for debit or credit card payments.

Before starting your trip, it is recommended to discuss payment options and approximate costs with the driver. The driver may also request proof of payment from you. At the end of your journey, you must pay the metered fare along with any additional charges or tolls that may apply.
