Classic Jets Fighter Museum

About Classic Jets Fighter Museum
Welcome to the Classic Jets Fighter Museum, a renowned establishment and must-visit tourist attraction located at 107 Anderson Drive in Parafield, Australia. Our museum is a point of interest for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
Please note that the Classic Jets Fighter Museum will be closed from midday on Friday, 24th December 2021, and will reopen at 10 am on Saturday, 8th January 2022. During this time, we encourage everyone to stay strong and stay safe.
We are excited to announce that we have recently relocated to Hangar 107, Anderson Drive, at Parafield Airport in South Australia. This new location is adjacent to our previous one, providing a convenient and accessible spot for visitors.
One of our most remarkable achievements is the salvage and restoration of an F4U-1 Corsair with the serial number 02270. This particular aircraft had force-landed in a lagoon near Quoin Hill fighter strip in Vanuatu on 5th May 1944. Fortunately, Captain James Vittitoe, the pilot, escaped uninjured.
The restoration of this magnificent fighter aircraft has been an ambitious and challenging project for our museum. We have sourced components from five Corsair crash sites, making it possible to reconstruct this historic plane. Additionally, the loaning of airworthy airframe modules has allowed us to build jigs and construct new modules as part of the Corsair buildup.
Our dedicated volunteers and their ingenuity have played a crucial role in the construction of the large and complicated fuselage section. With most major components now completed, the Corsair restoration project has entered the assembly phase. Visitors can witness this exciting process firsthand at our Restoration Facility in Hangar 107, Anderson Drive.
It is worth noting that Corsair 02270 holds the distinction of being the world's oldest surviving Corsair. The data plate on the spar indicates that it was the 124th aircraft off the production line, adding to its historical significance.
At the Classic Jets Fighter Museum, we strive to preserve and showcase significant pieces of aviation history. Our collection includes various fighter aircraft, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore and learn about these magnificent machines.
We invite you to join us at the Classic Jets Fighter Museum and immerse yourself in the rich history and awe-inspiring world of fighter jets. Discover the stories behind these iconic aircraft and witness firsthand the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into their restoration. Visit us at Hangar 107, Anderson Drive, in Parafield, Australia, and embark on a journey through aviation history like no other.

Reviews of Classic Jets Fighter Museum
"Great experience. Got to see a Corsair Fighter up close, and learned lots about the history of the plane and related information. Staff was friendly and enthusiastic about explaining and answering questions. Would recommend coming here to learn about some aviation history."
"The volunteer was very kind and entertaining with all the information he shared. Our kids loved the place, not huge but everything is interesting specially the ongoing project."
"More like a workshop than a museum but it was still cool to see the corsair almost rebuilt now from the wreckage in 1944. There are a couple of Italian jets there as well but those are active so they don't allow you to get too close to them."
"Just a restoration hangar with Corsair build 124-1 being restored to static display. Almost done now, with an Aerocobra in the very early stages. No jets."
"It's more of an open workshop than a museum so you need to be interested in plane restoration to get value from this place. As long as you're interested in plane restoration, you'll love visiting this workspace to see how they're going. Gold coin domain to get in and the volunteer will give you as much detail about their current project as you like"
