"I stayed in a single room at 3 backpacker's hostels: Britannia On William, Hay Street Traveller's Inn, and Emu Backpackers Perth. And by far Hay Street Traveller's Inn was exponentially worse than the other two, primarily because of the room. In my opinion, the room looked like a morgue or a bathroom with a bed in it. There were these awful ugly tiles on the wall and equally awful tiles on the floor that made the experience just so bad. It made the room feel barren and cold. The worst temporary accommodation experience of my life. Also the quilt they provide is the thickness of a towel. And the toilets and sinks were very small. I paid less for Britannia On William and Emu Backpackers Perth, but the room was descent, the walls were normal, the floor was carpeted, and the quilt was thick."
"Unfortunately, I don't have to say many positive things about that place. Location is good & shower room in main building is fairly new. Other than that terrible place! Mattress is soooo uncomfortable, carpet on the stairs stinks & toilet upstairs (main building) is so outdated/ not very clean. The whole place needs a proper "Spring" clean. Would not stay there again and don't recommend this place at all."
"I’ll never stay here again. Had a single bedroom for myself. The mattress was horrible, had springs poking my back the whole time and I have a sore back now. The blanket was thin and small and didn’t keep me warm. I stayed here last week of May and Perth was pretty chilly. A thicker blanket would have been better. The AC seems to be central so I couldn’t adjust the temperature in my room alone. The walls are extremely thin and I could hear my neighbours talking. Kitchen was dirty, bathroom was dirty (grime) and all could have used a through cleanup. Only bonus is the location is pretty central and there’s a bus stop close by. I’ll never stay here again. I’d rather pay a little extra and get a hotel room where the bedding would have been decent and wouldn’t have hurt my back, and would have gotten a cleaner place."
"$110 a night to stay in a bathroom converted to a bedroom (including concreted over floor drain, extractor fan and old sink pipes), no natural light, mediocre outdoor kitchen with rodents visibly running around in the evening. Mosquito bites if I set foot outside at night. People in the area screaming at night. Didn't see a single member of staff at reception my whole stay. Met one lovely helpful cleaner and also had one barge into my room as I was getting changed to mop the floors minutes after I arrived. Absolutely ridiculous price for what I received. I'm a backpacker the last year and am comfortable in all sorts of situations. But don't charge me 100+ dollars and give me 10 dollar experience. I quite literally got a legitimate hotel room in Perth central for a cheaper $102 p/n. How can hay street travellers in justify such a price?"
"Everything is great for the location, cleanliness, noise control, and good for self checkin. I don't mind for phone call receptionist. No free coffee / tea / sugar in the share kitchen while I was staying there. After all its hostel, but sadly its pricey these days."
