Western Australian Institute of Sport
About the Business
Welcome to the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS), located in Mount Claremont on McGillivray Road. As an establishment and point of interest, WAIS is dedicated to unearthing and nurturing Olympic potential in athletes from a wide range of sports.
We would like to take a moment to pay tribute to Priya Cooper OAM, who has recently stepped down as Chair of the Board at WAIS. Her dedication and leadership have greatly contributed to the success of our institution.
One example of the transformative journey that can be experienced at WAIS is that of Riley Rees-Turner. What started as a typical school PE class for Riley turned into the springboard for his representative rowing career. Through the Talent Identification (TID) Day at WAIS, Riley was given the opportunity to showcase his potential and has since excelled in the sport of rowing.
If you're looking to test your own potential, we invite you to participate in the WAIS Talent Search Day. In collaboration with Paddle WA, Rowing WA, and AusCycling WA, this event offers individuals the chance to discover their athletic abilities and potentially join the ranks of WAIS athletes.
At WAIS, we believe in providing our athletes with a well-rounded experience. In addition to their rigorous training schedules, our athletes have the opportunity to sit in on an array of educational sessions. This ensures that they not only excel in their respective sports but also develop valuable life skills.
We are proud to announce that WAIS athlete and staff member Cruz Hogan has been recognized at the WA Young Achiever Awards. Cruz's dedication and persistence have been rewarded, and he has won the Surge Fitness Sports Award. This is a testament to the hard work and commitment that our athletes put into their training.
In line with our commitment to inclusivity and celebrating diversity, WAIS acknowledges and participates in National NAIDOC Week. This week-long event, organized by the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee, is a time to honor the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It helps to bridge gaps and foster a sense of belonging for all Australians.
At WAIS, we are dedicated to unlocking the potential of athletes and providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed. Whether you're a young talent looking to be discovered or an established athlete seeking to take your skills to the next level, WAIS is here to help you on your journey to greatness. Join us and become a part of our sporting legacy.
