Reviews of SAE Institute Perth
"Do not support neurodivergent students and then invalidate their experiences creating mountains of stress and anxiety for them. Claim they do, only support staff and not the student who reaches out constantly and then reacts when feeling unsafe."
"Excellent University, quality teachers, compressed learning, just make sure if you’re a mature age student have your life sorted and don’t have multiple commitments. As the study workload is quite demanding (a good thing)"
"I’ve studied at SAE, 4 Trimesters now. The curriculum made it clear where I should be directing my attention in regards to understanding my craft and the film industry. I would not be the talent I am today if I had not studied here. SAE has helped develop my abilities to share my ideas clearly, advocate my point and pitch a project idea confidently to an audience."
"I was unfortunate enough to do one of their sound courses when they were in Bennett Street. The attrition rate was astounding, too many to fit comfortably in a classroom, and not enough working computers for everyone on the practical side, yet from over 30 people this dwindled to about eight over five months before I decided I was wasting my time and money there. Nothing was prepared by the institute, their course information was just stolen from the web, and not even checked for mistakes. There were often computer issues and no written procedures for the DAW side of things. The computer in the main electronic module room didn't work despite the instructor trying for over an hour, yet this still constituted "being shown" how to use it to control the outboard modules. It still didn't work weeks later when I went in to use it out of class hours. The instructors, despite seeming to know their subject, didn't seem to possess much in the way of teaching skills, in fact my main instructor was "teaching" the course for the first time, and the institute seemed okay with the "muddling on through" approach. Knowing a subject doesn't count for much if you can't explain it, and trying to use a thousand words, plus talking over the class constantly when they're trying to concentrate on set tasks got very annoying. They seemed very big on laying down the law regarding what was expected from the students and listing their strict standards, yet when it came to their own performance, the same standards didn't apply. I felt like it was a shambles, and some aspects, like music theory that I was already familiar with, was explained very poorly. I did some checking before I enrolled, and found quite a few poor reviews for SAE, so I was a little reluctant from the start, but I still wasn't prepared for how poor it would turn out to be. I'm surprised they're still going frankly, and from what I here, I doubt any qualification gained there would be well received in the industry, as their reputation seems to be well known. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere."
"I stepped into this university and felt welcomed instantly. By the end of the course I had everything promised. A plethora of skills, industry contacts and a proper portfolio. Beyond this, I found an invaluable resource. A support network that I believe will carry me through the years past my graduation. I cannot recommend this university highly enough"
