Reviews of Icon Cancer Centre South Brisbane
"Been under Dr Jim since January 23. All staff have been fantastic in helping me beat my pancreatic cancer. Thank you all.!!!"
"Just can not thank them enough for their care, love, support and professionalism. Going there for last 18 years and couldn’t be any happier."
"This is only for Dr Jain. I deal with medical professionals on a daily basis and this man by far is the worst practitioner. He does not listen to his patients, his bed-side manner is appalling. Not sure why he is in this profession if he is so cold. As an oncologist there is a level of care and a way to talk to patients not dismissing them and not addressing their concerns. I would suggest etttiquite school. Would never recommend."
"Absolutely awful experience. Made an appointment with Dr Jim Coward and even though I felt terribly fatigued on the the day of my appointment I made my way to the clinic as I felt it would be rude to cancel at the last minute. Well, the joke is on me.. My husband and father also came with me to the appointment and took time of work to do so. When we arrived at the clinic, the reception staff were incredibly rude from the get go. They accused us of not sending through paperwork which they had never requested from us to begin with and which we wisely brought with us on the day of the appointment. The lady in question was so rude about the fact that she didn't do her job I felt like leaving then and there but stayed in hopes that the doctor is a reasonable man. Sadly this was not the case. As I felt too tired to get up, my father went into the doctors office after my name was called to hand over paperwork for the doctor to review as the secretary told us that the doctor wants to see the paperwork before receiving me. My father, who is also a doctor himself simply handed over the paperwork and came back to the waiting room. To our astonishment, Dr Jim Coward sent the admin staff back to the waiting room to inform us that members of my family are not welcome in the consultation room because my father politely came in to his office to hand over requested documents. In shock I asked why and how could the doctor possibly be offended, but of coarse the response I received was not even worth listening too so I left the clinic then and there. Confused and astonished, my father quickly went back for the documents we left behind and I could hear Dr Jim Coward yelling at my father like a crazy person- to ' get out' !!! Believe me Dr Coward, we were more than happy to 'get out' I am very, very sorry that I booked that appointment and I'm especially sorry that members of my family took time of work to come support me only to be treated thus. Your lack of empathy and consideration for patients and members of their family who did absolutely nothing wrong is disgusting and you should be deeply ashamed of yourself. I have no idea why we were treated the way we were treated by you and your reception staff but as a doctor myself I have some idea of how doctors should treat patients and members of their family and your behaviour actually warrants a formal complaint to the appropriate authorities - something to think about perhaps. Your patients are not an opportunity for you to unload your personal frustrations. Needless to say that both as a doctor and patient I would never recommend Dr Jim Coward to absolutely anyone."
"Prices are criminal ($500 initial appointment) and unlike most GPs, you are made to book a follow-up appointment to be told everything is okay (no doubt just to squeeze out another $300 for a 5 minute appointment). I regret not having asked my GP for an alternative referral as it did cross my mind, however the appointment was offered late Friday evening (7:30pm) for the following Monday and I was caught unaware and unsure how long I would have to wait for an alternative appointment. The short turnaround time also made me worry something was concerning as appointments are apparently triaged... Perhaps a tactic to get the bookings?"
