About WorkCover Queensland
Welcome to WorkCover Queensland, an establishment located in Brisbane City, Adelaide Street. As a local government office and point of interest, we are dedicated to maintaining a safe workplace for all.
At WorkCover Queensland, we understand that ensuring a safe workplace is a shared responsibility. That's why we provide a wealth of information and tools to help you manage risks and protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of your workers.
Whether you are an employer needing to insure your workers or a worker who has been injured at work, we have everything you need to know about worker's compensation insurance. We guide you through the rehabilitation and return to work journey, providing you with options, steps to take, and clarifying responsibilities.
As an institution, we are responsible for Acts, Regulations, and codes of practice related to workplace safety. You can find information on workplace inspections and prosecutions, ensuring you stay compliant and informed.
Our website is a treasure trove of useful resources. You can easily find what you need by using the in-page search or filters. Learn how to identify hazards, manage risks, and protect your workers from injury and illness.
We also provide comprehensive information about claims and insurance for work-related injuries, whether through WorkCover or a self-insured business. Understanding the work health and safety laws that apply to every place of work in Queensland is essential, and we are here to guide you.
Setting up your business to comply with Queensland's health and safety laws can be daunting, but we break it down into manageable steps. From ensuring people's safety to reporting injuries and making claims, we help you navigate the process.
If you've experienced a work-related injury, we support you in starting your recovery and getting back to work. Our overview of the laws explains how they fit together and what they require of both employers and workers.
We are thrilled to bring you a full program of work health and safety and return to work events during Safe Work Month in October. From our Work Well Conference to Work Well Regional Information Sessions and Work Well Speaker Series, there's something for everyone.
In addition, we offer free events for industry leaders, electrical workers, contractors, and apprentices to enhance safety in the electrical industry. Mental Health Week, celebrated annually in October, is another important event on our calendar. We aim to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and promote mental health and wellbeing.
Quad bike safety is a priority for us, as more than 50 Queenslanders have tragically lost their lives since 2011. We provide five simple steps to be a safer quad bike rider, emphasizing the importance of wearing a helmet, appropriate bike sizes for kids, not doubling up, avoiding overloading, and receiving quad bike training.
Our safety ambassadors play a crucial role in increasing awareness of mentally healthy workplaces and work health and safety. Through their stories, we aim to inspire and educate.
We also share news and updates related to workplace safety, such as the recent case of an unlicensed electrical apprentice being fined for non-compliant and unsafe electrical work.
Making the roads safer is a passion for Senior Constable John Kenworthy, who unfortunately experienced a tragic incident while on duty. We honor his dedication to keeping others safe on the roads.
Starting in September, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland inspectors will conduct audits of businesses operating from buildings likely to pose risks. This initiative aims to enhance workplace safety across the state.
For managers and supervisors, we offer a specialized program to equip you with foundational skills to identify, assess, and manage risks to psychological health.
Our annual summit, both in-person and livestreamed, brings together leaders in the electrical industry. This year's focus is on being the best leader, promoting diversity and inclusion, and driving innovation.
Join us for an exclusive breakfast with football legend Jonathan Thurston at Bracken Ridge TAFE, where you can enjoy a complimentary meal or watch it online.
Finally, we would like to express our respect and gratitude to Queensland's Elders, both past and present. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia for their ongoing custodianship of land, waters, and community.
At WorkCover Queensland, we are dedicated to promoting workplace safety, protecting workers, and ensuring the wellbeing of all. Explore our website to access valuable resources and support.

Reviews of WorkCover Queensland
"This organisation works for your employer. Rude, deceitful staff will tell you lies about evidence submissions and the process over the phone which are later denied. Evidence I submitted was never taken into account when I was harassed and bullied at work as documented and certified by a clinical psychologist and my GP. Make sure you only communicate with this organisation and its rude, predominantly uneducated, female staff members via lawyers. Legal Aid Queensland can point you in the right direction."
"Worst experience ever. Unsupportive, humiliating, degrading. This organization is not about you getting better, its all about to kick you off their books. Even if you have a good chance to recover, their so called " independent doctors" make sure that you do not get the help, support or diagnostics you need to recover. Corrupt organization that should be shut down."
"Worst experience ever a battle with an insurance company who does not care about you. My mum has had a serious shoulder accident at work crippling her. In 9 weeks she still has not been paid a cent. Her case manager Frazin Madani does not care and didn't even have the decency to call her and let her know her paperwork was filled out wrong. It has taken her many phone calls which end up with going to his answering machine and no call backs! All he could say I have been busy... so in 9 weeks he couldn't make contact. Disgraceful when you are dealing with those who are going through enough of a tough time dealing with injuries they didn't ask for. Start thinking of the person who you are dealing with mental health."
"Takes forever to process. Meanwhile you are having to eat packet noodles to survive. Then you start back to work on a graduated basis and it’s still processing and somehow you need to find money for fuel etc when you have nothing left. Meanwhile you’re behind in everything and being charged late payment fees out the kazoozer. Ring your case manager over and over and keep getting an answering machine. Finally after 5 weeks it’s processed, but you still have to wait until next fortnight’s pay to get all your back pay which then throws you into the next tax bracket. Most stressful and frustrating experience of my life. They forget we are PEOPLE and not just numbers on their books"
