When it comes to prescribing medications, our doctors at Family Practice Medical Centres follow responsible prescribing practices. This means that each prescription request is thoroughly reviewed before a prescription is provided. Our review process includes the use of the new Drug monitoring tool QScripts, which allows us to track prescriptions in real-time. Please note that our doctors are not obligated to issue a new prescription, even if you have received one before. We encourage new patients to consider transferring their medical records to provide our GPs with the necessary information to make informed clinical decisions. Additionally, please be aware that restricted medications are not provided on the first visit.

Medical certificates are only provided after a consultation, whether it is a physical appointment or a telehealth session. To ensure patient privacy, our certificates do not include a diagnosis but may contain health directions such as a period of rest or limitations on duties. Employers are welcome to request verification of the validity of any certificates issued by our practice or doctors.

Test results are also only provided during a consultation, whether in person or via telehealth. Only our doctors are authorized to discuss results with patients, and our other staff members are unable to provide this information. If you have any test results or recalls that need to be discussed, please book an appointment with one of our doctors.

We understand the importance of convenience, which is why we offer free off-street parking directly outside our practice. You can easily access our clinic from North Lakes via Plantation Drive, entering our car park from Old Gympie Road (for northbound traffic) or via Alma Road/Plantation Drive from any direction. Our practice is located on the lower level and is wheelchair accessible. You'll find us underneath Hiit Gym.

For those using public transportation, there are bus stops available outside the complex on Old Gympie Road. Bus routes 683 and 685 service our location.

Additionally, it is important to answer questions about pregnancy and breastfeeding accurately, as some medications may not be suitable for use during these times.

We may call you for more information to assist in our assessment, but this is not a substitute for a consultation with your GP. If you require treatment for your condition, we strongly advise seeking medical attention and following up with your regular healthcare provider.

For mild symptoms or conditions that do not require medical treatment, rest and basic at-home care are often sufficient. However, depending on your symptoms, our practitioner may call you for more information. These calls are typically brief and do not incur any additional costs for the patient.
