Reviews of Wynnum Medical Centre
"May I firstly say thank you for the opportunity to give this medical centre a review. I’m a very complex client, the Dr’s at this centre are amazing, we are Truly blessed to have such amazing Drs available to us. With the Support of Dr Arun, Dr Kuzzy, Dr David and the amazingly helpful nurses & staff Gail & Jess & others. Without their support over the past months, with the pain I’m going through they have gone above and beyond and continue to do so; where our major medical system is overwhelmed with sick and injured. I’ve been truly blessed to have such a supportive family practitioner and practice at hand to help me through this time. God bless I pray this medical practice stays with us for many years to come. I’m very humbled to have you all in my life right now."
"I never give 5 stars, as there is always room for improvement, but I have given 5 stars this time, as I had a procedure done & had a reaction & Mary & The Team, have gone over & beyond to help me back to health... Highly recommendation..."
"Wynnum Medical Centre is an amazing centre with amazing staff. Reception is always willing to help and nothing is to much. The Doctors are not just in for the $$$ they really care about the patients. I’m now with them for the 5 years and can’t be more happier. Kind Regards Phillip"
"Hit and miss here with the staff. Dr Arun was professional, intuitive and basically has the common sense that other staff here lack. Very positive experience with him. The kiwi nurse is amazing. Friendly, personable and professional. Dr Davood Karivian was just weird and brings the entire team down. Bad bedside manner. Zero common sense when dealing with sensitive women’s issues. Eager to prescribe drugs when not required. Not very intuitive at all. Would not provide adequate reasons as to why a dysport script was not approved, he was abrupt and rude. I have dealt with this Dr a few times, not by choice, and he was worse on each occasion. Happy to take my business elsewhere for this anyway, which I did. Never been declined for dysport before anywhere nor have I experienced any issues after receiving it, in fact it lifts my mood. This guy was clueless when it came to dealing with me."
"Doctor Kazi is not a nice person at all in my opinion. He refused to give me a referral for an iron infusion that I wanted to get from a different place who could do it a week quicker than Wynnum Medical Centre. He said this was because I had only seen him a couple of times, but why on earth would that matter at all? I've only lived in Brisbane a year and I have only needed to go to the doctor twice in that time. Dr Kazi literally prescribed me an iron infusion, so why shouldn't he write a referral if I can get the infusion quicker somewhere else? Especially since I had originally booked in at Wynnum Medical Centre for the iron infusion but they wanted to reschedule two days before I was supposed to have my infusion. It makes zero sense to me. Honestly, what doctor in their right mind denies a sick person an iron infusion? The pathologist, however, is absolute the nicest person on the planet. I loved her so much and I highly recommend her if you need a blood test! She is an angel. EDITED TO UPDATE: So I took my Iron prescription into Chemist Warehouse, and the man was stunned because it was going to cost me $700. He said Dr Kazi had said listed me as a private patient when I am on Medicare. The pharmacist was able to half the amount of Iron I bought so it cost me around $300 in the end. The pharmacist said it should only cost $30 as I am on Medicare and I should see another GP and not buy the Iron today. However I wanted my infusion today so I paid the money. This is why Dr Kazi refused to give me a referral--because he knew it would cost me $700 to pick up my prescription and everyone would be confused as to why it cost that much. I heard the people at Chemist Warehouse on the phone to Wynnum Medical Centre, no doubt trying to work out what the heck they think they are doing. P.S. Dr Kazi seemed to give me tests I did not need, like a coeliac blood test (I repeatedly told him I am coeliac and don't eat gluten but he put that test in with my other blood tests anyway), and a stool test I apparently needed before getting an iron infusion (they didn't ask for the results of a stool test today when I got my infusion at all). I don't know what the heck is going on at Wynnum Medical Centre but I feel deeply uncomfortable with everything that has transpired. EDITED AGAIN: This is a response to the reply written below. Reception DID NOT advise anything of the sort. Reception straight out told me: "You cannot get the iron infusion elsewhere." When I pushed back on this as ridiculous, they backtracked and said: "If you want another practise to do the iron infusion you will need to do all the tests again (blood test and stool test.)" This was incorrect. I asked for a referral, incorrectly assuming I'd need one, and Dr. Kazi refused to give me one as "he was not my GP." Another lie. Thankfully, I did not need a referral at all. Furthermore, my new GP is completely perplexed as to why Doctor Kazi lied and said he was not my GP, that he had listed me as private when I am on Medicare, and that reception at Wynnum Medical Centre lied instead of informing me that I could get an iron infusion elsewhere. I should also add that Chemist Warehouse were stunned that Dr Kazi had listed me as private and that my iron cost $700 when it should have cost me $30. Dodgy! I had zero interest taking the one phone call or replying to the one email I received from this clinic as I knew they would refuse to take responsibility for their actions and in doing so try to gaslight me. Given the response to this review, I was completely correct in this assumption. Horrible people. Just horrible."
