About North Kobble Creek Bush Camp
Welcome to North Kobble Creek Bush Camp, a hidden gem nestled in the stunning Moreton Bay Region of Queensland, Australia. Situated in the picturesque eucalypt forest of D'Aguilar National Park, this remote campground offers a serene and untouched wilderness experience that is perfect for skilled hikers and nature enthusiasts.
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and embark on a trek through steep terrain to reach this hidden oasis. As you weave your way through prehistoric-looking grasstrees and cycads, you'll be greeted with breathtaking views of the pristine surrounding landscape. Keep an eye out for skinks and other lizards basking on the warm rock surfaces along the beautiful (though often dry) Kobble Creek, which showcases naturally sculptured bluestone on its base and sides.
Located just 48 kilometers northwest of Brisbane's city center, North Kobble Creek Bush Camp offers a remote setting that is accessible only by foot. This ensures a sense of solitude and tranquility for those seeking a true wilderness experience. Please note that this campground is suitable for experienced hikers with excellent bushwalking and navigation skills.
At North Kobble Creek Bush Camp, you'll find an open area without separately-defined sites, allowing for a maximum of 9 people (3 x 3-person tents) to camp at one time. The facilities are minimal, with no designated camp sites or amenities. However, this allows you to truly connect with nature and follow bush toileting practices.
For cooking, we recommend bringing a fuel stove, as open fires are only permitted in the provided fireplace, except during fire bans or prohibitions. Please refrain from collecting bush wood, as penalties apply for offenses. Remember to bring essentials such as drinking water, a first-aid kit, rubbish bags, insect repellent, a sturdy tent, and appropriate clothing.
North Kobble Creek Bush Camp is open 24 hours a day, but check-in is only allowed after 2pm, and check-out is required by 11am on the day of departure. Before your visit, be sure to check park alerts for the latest information on access, closures, and conditions.
To reach this remote bush camping site, you'll need to drive approximately 50 minutes from Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre in The Gap, following Mount Glorious Road. Access to the camp is by walking along unmarked trails over steep terrain, descending approximately 550 meters in elevation. It is essential to be physically fit and have navigation skills, as well as an emergency plan in place with a responsible person. A topographic map with the grid reference 778 856 is required for navigation.
We encourage visitors to contribute to the important work being done to protect and grow Queensland's protected area system. As we enjoy the beauty of this land, we acknowledge and respect the Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land. Reviews of North Kobble Creek Bush Camp
"Hey Phil havnt don't it in a while but it's one he'll of a drive"
"This isn't a review about the campground. We didn't get there. We tried but after finding the road over the creek bed it was clear that access is very difficult even for 4x4. There is plenty of water around. Koalas in the trees, but we gave up on access."
"Beautiful secluded bike packing spot. I came down Mount Glorious and it was quite steep but definitely doable with good bike handling skill. While online according to the park's website it says that this camp site has access to water, it's actually dry. The assumed access to water is via the creek which according to the local is dry 9/12 months, so if you do go plan your water accordingly."
