Kluvers Lookout
About the Business
Welcome to Kluvers Lookout, a remarkable establishment located in the breathtaking D'Aguilar National Park, nestled in the heart of Queensland's Moreton Bay Region, specifically in Laceys Creek. As an esteemed landmark, point of interest, and tourist attraction, Kluvers Lookout offers an inspiring experience for all visitors.
D'Aguilar National Park is renowned for its diverse environments and thriving plant communities. Immerse yourself in the beauty of open eucalypt woodlands, scribbly gum forests, and lush subtropical rainforests. With over 800 plant species, including rare and threatened ones, the park provides a botanical wonderland.
The park's cool mountain tops and forest flats create a haven for a variety of wildlife. The temperate mountain climate fosters the growth of ferns and mosses, while the mountain streams are home to enchanting creatures like giant barred frogs and spiny crayfish. At night, the tall open forest comes alive with the activity of yellow-bellied gliders and short-eared possums. Keep an eye out for magnificent owls, such as the vulnerable powerful owl, as they hunt small animals like possums and snakes. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the abundant birdwatching opportunities, with bowerbirds, wompoo fruit-doves, bell miners, and yellow-tailed black-cockatoos gracing the forest with their presence.
For an up-close encounter with native animals, make sure to visit the Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre. This comprehensive complex features a visitor information centre, wedding centre, café, and Wildlife Centre, where you can marvel at the area's incredible wildlife.
As stewards of this precious environment, we kindly ask visitors to follow guidelines to ensure the preservation of the D'Aguilar Range and its wildlife. When toilets are not available, please exercise proper sanitation and hygiene practices, and refrain from polluting natural water supplies. For more information, we recommend watching the informative 'bush toileting and washing' web clip. Embrace your role in caring for parks by adhering to the guidelines on protecting our environment and heritage.
D'Aguilar National Park is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) under the Nature Conservation Act 1992. Their dedicated efforts aim to preserve and present the park's remarkable natural and cultural values for generations to come. Please note that a special management area (controlled action) has been designated within the park, allowing foliage harvesting activities until 2024. These areas are carefully monitored to ensure the preservation of natural and cultural values.
For further tourism information and assistance, we recommend contacting the Brisbane Visitor Information and Booking Centre or visiting their website. "Great view over the bay, be prepared for a good off-road drive though. Easy in the dry, maybe not so much when wet."
"Although a great spot, the view is somewhat hidden by the undergrowth and trees. Not sure it's worth the rather tortuous drive (which you get to experience on the way up and down)."
"It’s nature so it gets 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ .. I love being outdoors and the access to this area is not far from my home. I travel through Dayboro to Laceys creek road and continue all the way to the end of the road where they look like driveways and a sign saying no through road, you can access the state forest this way and it’s a really beautiful area to drive I would recommend a 4x4 as the roads in the state forest are hard and rough. It is hot at the moment so we packed a heap of water and a picnic. We also took mountain bikes as there are some awesome down hill runs you can do if your that way inclined. I think the Lookout itself is great however the trees have blocked most of the view up now (see in photos) but there is a little spot to park and enjoy your picnic and have a break from driving. All in all it’s a great place highly recommend to spend the day there as it can take a few hours to get through the tracks."
"Hard to get to and long fun 4WD drive, but nice view."
"The tracks were pretty well maintain its about 1 hr to the lookout from laceys creek entrance.. great views along the way"
