About Capalaba Amateur Swimming Club
Welcome to Capalaba Amateur Swimming Club, located at 154-164 Mount Cotton Road in Capalaba, Australia. Our club is a beloved establishment and point of interest in the community, providing young swimmers with a fantastic opportunity to swim for fitness and enjoyment. We also aim to give them a solid foundation for future competitive swimming if they choose to pursue higher levels.
Established in 1981, Capalaba Amateur Swimming Club has been operating for over 40 years, attracting swimmers from multiple generations. We support both social and competitive swimmers starting from the age of 5 and up. Our club nights take place every Tuesday between term 4 and 1, offering a fun and supportive environment for kids to showcase their skills.
At Capalaba Amateur Swimming Club, we prioritize each child's personal best and ensure they have a great time while swimming. To make life easier for busy parents, we have an on-site canteen that offers a range of dinner options. Additionally, our club follows the Rules and By-Laws of the Swimming Queensland Association and the Constitution of the Capalaba State College Parents and Citizens Association.
The participation fee for Capalaba Swimming Club is $150.00 per swimming participant, which covers the gate fee and a 20-week swim season. This fee contributes to the overall running of the club. We welcome swimmers aged between 5-21 years old who can generally swim half a length of a pool unaided.
During our club nights, swimmers have the freedom to choose their preferred swim strokes for each event. Whether it's freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, or butterfly, each swim time is recorded and saved in the swimmers' personal record card for future comparisons. Nominations must be submitted at the nomination table 15 minutes prior to the first swim, and late nominations will not be accepted.
Club night swims commence every Tuesday at 6:30pm, with the first day of the 2018 season starting on October 9th. Kids are encouraged to arrive early at 6:00pm to have a quick swim before the races begin. Ample car parking is available on School Road.
While not compulsory, we encourage all swimmers attending carnivals or other events to wear club swimwear to be identified as club participants. Our club colors are red, black, and white, and club togs can be ordered during sign-on or club nights. Swim caps and goggles, which are mandatory during pool sessions, can be purchased from our merchandise stand.
During club nights, our canteen is open, offering a variety of food options, soft drinks, and other assortments for sale. It's the perfect place to refuel and socialize after a swim.
Competing against their own times, swimmers earn points based on their club night swims. These points accumulate throughout the season and are used to determine improvement trophy allocations at the end of each session. Points for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly sprint events are allocated according to a specific schedule.
If you're interested in getting involved and volunteering on club nights, we warmly welcome your help. Whether it's timing lanes, assisting in the canteen, or marshaling, there are plenty of options for you to contribute. Reach out to us to find out more about how you can be a part of our team.
Lastly, we would like to express our gratitude to the local businesses that support us. We greatly appreciate their partnership and encourage our members to support them in return.
Thank you for visiting Capalaba Amateur Swimming Club. We look forward to seeing you at our next club night and helping your child thrive in the world of swimming.
