About the Business
Welcome to Viewing Platform BNE, located at Brisbane Airport on Acacia Street. As an establishment and point of interest, we offer an exciting opportunity to have your own "Fantasy Island" moment while spotting planes. Did you know that on average, 217,436 planes take off and land at Brisbane Airport each year? This guarantees excellent plane spotting opportunities all year round.
If you're a plane spotter, we encourage you to share your photos with us by tagging #BNEspotters and #BrisbaneAirport. By doing so, you give us permission to repost your great snaps. Additionally, for a taste of spotting at Brisbane Airport, be sure to check out YBBN Spotters.
For those looking for a complete plane spotting experience, the Ibis Hotel at Brisbane Airport occasionally offers Plane Spotters Packages. These packages include overnight accommodation, breakfast, and access to their rooftop Skylounge. More information about these packages can be found on our website.
At Viewing Platform BNE, we pride ourselves on being experts in the field of plane spotting. We've spent a lot of time at the airport, so you can trust us to guide you to the best spots for plane spotting.
One of our recommended spots is the Acacia Street Loop. To capture the best shots of the runway, bring a zoom 70-300mm lens and enjoy free parking from 4.30am to 7.30pm. This location allows you to see arrivals and departures on RWY19 and RWY01. For uninterrupted views over the fence and taxiway shots, consider bringing a ladder.
Please note that the Dryandra Road underpass is now the only access to the General Aviation Precinct and Plane Spotters' area at the Acacia Street Loop. There is no pedestrian access between the Domestic Terminal and this area.
Another great spot is Boronia Road, where you can have front row seats to a RWY01 and RWY19 take off and landing show. Set up your tripod from sunrise to 10am and use a lens from 50-400mm to capture the action. However, please be respectful of the businesses located on Boronia Road and avoid blocking any driveways. If you're using a ladder, keep at least three meters clear of the fence for security purposes.
If you prefer capturing the approach of RWY01 aircraft, Da Vinci Boulevard is the place to be. The best time to be there is from 11am onwards, and you can conveniently park onsite. Use a 20mm lens or larger to capture the planes as they approach in the afternoon light, and don't forget to capture the beautiful sunset.
For your convenience, the BNE Service Centre is available for bathroom facilities and food outlets during your spotting session.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the Turrbal people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work. We pay respect to their Elders, both past and present.
Come visit Viewing Platform BNE at Brisbane Airport and immerse yourself in the thrilling world of plane spotting. Whether you're a seasoned spotter or a beginner, we guarantee an unforgettable experience.

Reviews
"A good place to view some planes. Not possible to view planes landing or taking off on the other runway. This place is good for Runway 01."
"The location itself is pretty great for close up take-offs and landings on the old runway and aircraft taxiing between the new runway. It's pretty ironic though that the actual viewing is completely obscured by the fence and barbed wire, you'd need a ladder to see clearly or poke your phone through the fence hole for a decent photo. Bit of a let down when other facilities such as PER have a great clear view. There are also no toilets or shade and not enough seating. Hope this great spot gets a proper facility in the future."
"Great place to take photos and videos, good parking spot , u need something like ladder if u wanna take photos over the fence."
"I reckon itd be a nice spot for a date under the stars. Go at dusk as the sky changes pretty colours have pic nice dinner while there's still light , lay on a nice blanket looking at the stars in deep n meaningful conversations and watch the planes take off. Only one park bench , that's fine we just sat on the concrete slab. took videos through the holes in the fence. Little man got kick out of the workers driving past and waving at him."
"There are usually parking spots available so its an easy walk to the viewing area. There are airshows that are held at the airport every so often, and thats when you may find it difficlut to get a park near the viewing area. If you want to see over the fence you will need to bring your own ladder. Even without a ladder you get a good view of the planes taking off and landing. If you put your camera to the wire fence, you should find a gap that allows you to take pretty good photo."
