About the Business
Welcome to Sou'West Brewery, located at 27 Baines Crescent in Torquay, Australia. As an establishment, food point of interest, and restaurant, we are proud to be a part of the iconic site that has been a significant landmark for both Torquay and the global surfing community.
Originally a 2.5-hectare rural block, this site was transformed into the global headquarters of the locally founded surf brand, Quiksilver, in the mid-nineties. The incredible building that once stood here has lost its luster in recent years under different ownership. However, with the vision of IP Generation, the site has been purchased with the aim of fully restoring it and making it a thriving hub once again.
Our role in this transformation is to create a food and beverage hub that embraces the unique qualities of the site and the Surf Coast community. At Sou'West Brewery, we take pride in being referred to as a craft brewery because we are all about the art of handcrafted beer. Our head brewer, Luke Scott, is a local legend in the brewing industry, having spent 13 years at Prickly Moses in the Otways before joining our team. Using the best ingredients and no preservatives, Luke crafts each beer on-site to ensure freshness and quality.
In addition to our handcrafted beers, we also offer a menu of delicious food prepared by our talented team on-site. Sustainability is a core value for us, and we take steps to reduce our environmental impact. All of our glass and cardboard are separately recycled, our food waste goes to composting instead of landfill, and our spent grain is used by local farmers for feed.
We are excited to share our part of the story with you and invite you to experience the vibrant atmosphere and exceptional offerings at Sou'West Brewery. Whether you're a local or a visitor to the Surf Coast region, we hope you feel the passion and dedication we put into every aspect of our establishment. Come and join us for a truly memorable dining and drinking experience.

"This place has it all!!! The food was delicious and the kids loved the mini brewers board ( ham, cheese, crackers, carrot & cucumber) which I think more restaurants need to serve! There is an entire section for the kids with an enclosed playground so the adults can enjoy their yummy food. The paddle board was a great choice to have a selection of beers too. My only comment would be to change up the dessert menu and maybe a few more dishes. This place is a must visit with or without kids. Highly recommend!"
"So sad, I always appreciated this place until today. That's now been completely tarnished. I will refrain from recommending my friends here anymore. There were a group of us here for a lunch celebration for work, there was a lot of happy chatter, we were having a good time but then we were met with a member of staff telling us to be quiet in the rudest way possible. Swearing is NOT okay. Advice for the business, if a group is getting a little too loud I recommend approaching the group and saying "Hey guys, it's getting a little loud in here could we keep it down please" - this we would have 100% taken on board (especially since HR was with us, they would have whipped us in line!). You have to attempt communication. But we weren't given warning, we were given verbal abuse and we left immediately. Keep in mind there were only 11 other people beyond our group in this huge hall structure and we were right up the back. This staff member probably shouldn't be customer facing if they have such a short fuse. There's no way you'll grow a customer base with this kind of treatment. Have a little more humility."
"It's on the expensive end but the food is great and the beer is too. The only problem we had with the atmosphere was the noise, not much sound deadening and a large group meant conversation was difficult. There was space elsewhere. Otherwise, a great lunch and would recommend!"
"A lovely airy establishment. Staff were efficient, but it was not really clear the ordering process. Lovely meals. Everyone enjoyed their choice. The Cobb salad was very delicious, incredibly tasty, really impressed with the replacement of tofu for chicken. The chocolate cake was to die for, melt in the mouth delicious."
"Big wide open barn style venue. Great for small or large groups. Food tasty and good variety. I especially like the chicken bowl which is delicious. Good vegetarian options too. Great range of beers, wine, cider and other drinks. They should also make a non alcoholic beer too for people who don't drink. Service efficient and food always comes out quickly. No table service but that's OK. Will return for sure."
