Reviews of Pet Emergency
"I'm not going to guess as to the realities of vet emergency care which I believe are a pendulum of emotions versus opportunism in most cases, but I wonder if my daughter's dog was wasted by the extreme fee quotes given by this surgery. Her 5 month old GSD puppy was injured and on admission the quotes started from 3500 and kept adding up from there. I insisted on X-Rays first, finding a fractured pelvis and some related but comparatively minor injuries. The quote was 6-7000 for the pelvis repair with no guarantees, plus overnight waiting for surgeon at 1200 plus a likely list of extras basically a 10,000 quote. We couldn't take him anywhere else at this stage, but the lesson is I should have given I now have seen other vests quoting 2500-5000 TOTAL for a pelvis operation. Instead he was euthanised. I do want to say the care and staff were doing their job professionally although I can't say either way whether the money side is the primary game. What I can say is not one moment was missed to ensure large quotes were the primary conversation topic throughout and you are made to fill in and sign for those quotes on tablets every step. Plenty of reviews say animals subsequently taken elsewhere were healed at fractions of the costs and so it proves that had I known maybe her dog would still be here now. Was the best ever GSD we have had, and my 8 year old daughter's best friend slain at the altar of greed? Probably. Likely. It's clearly worth getting your animal stabilised and seeking a second opinion. The ability to think this through in the situation I found myself in is questionable for most, but maybe seek family help to make the decisions. At least a second opinion might prove you are actually in the right place, or the wrong one."
"The staff are fantastic!! Supportive, understanding and compassionate. Sad that we needed to use the facility but I can't speak highly enough of the care we all received and especially our precious furniture baby."
"They are young vets. Receptionists and nurses are nice. Vet had a nice bedside manner, however, my dog went in with a common problem , was told by the vet when first going in that she looked happy and energetic and her vitals were good. Needless to say 24hrs later, I’m being recommended to euthanise my dog. Just such a drastic change in 24hrs for something that was meant to be common. She was a young dog. The loss has been unimaginably heartbreaking for me. I do, in part, blame this place for my loss because she did enter energetic with good vitals and now she’s dead. I feel inexperience was attributable to this."
"Do not take your pet here, even if you are desperate! If I could give this business a zero, then it would be a zero on the reviews! My dog was taken in and was diagnosed with vestibular disease. The late night vet was happy with my dog's progress and positive. 3 hours later the handover day vet called and said my dog has deteriorated and was not responsive. I rushed to the vet to see my dog in a coma. What happened during this 3 hour period that my dog could deteriorate so badly, that he had to euthanize him? No other options were given to us. How are we supposed to know as regular people what do, when you are relying on the qualified vet for advise. I asked for the report to be sent to my regular vet. He called to advise that there was an inconsistency in their report. My vet couldn't even tell me why my dog had to be euthanized. The emergency vet report was inconsistent from the two handover vets. This means that my dog could have been sensitive to the opioid and was just fast asleep. He just needed more time at the vet. The problem here is that this business is hiring vets who are not experienced enough and who are only fresh out of vet school. The second handover vet didn't know what she was looking at with my dog. I'm devastated to find out that my dog was euthanized unnecessarily, due to the incompetence of this business. Even in your grief find strength. Report this business for their negligence, for they need to be made accountable."
"We had an emergency night which initially we thought our dog was in the best care however some things just did not add up . He was responding well then the change over of vet called us to come down to the hospital saying he had deteriorated . He did appear non responsive and we did believe the vet was correct . After requesting the notes to be forwarded to our usual vet we received a call informing us of the inconsistency of the care of our dog and they had not understood that after administering sedatives to him it could have taken him at least a day to respond . The hospitalisation report was inconsistent and they had made a terrible mistake We had our dearest dog euthanised thinking he would not recover when fact is he would have recovered We are deeply deeply mortified horrified and shall be taking this matter to task"
