About Glen Counselling
Welcome to Glen Counselling, a trusted establishment located in Glen Waverley, Australia. As a point of interest in the health sector, we specialize in providing professional mental health counselling services to individuals who are feeling confused, unhappy in their relationships, discontented with life, anxious, depressed, or finding it difficult to cope with life-changing events.
At Glen Counselling, our team is led by a highly experienced and Medicare approved Mental Health Counsellor with over 15 years of experience. We are dedicated to working closely with our clients to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our goal is to help you identify your strengths and make the necessary changes to improve your overall quality of life.
In addition to our general counselling services, we are pleased to offer a specialized program for children diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. We understand that social competence is a crucial aspect of a child's development, and our program focuses on enhancing their ability to accurately appraise situations and interact harmoniously with others.
We stay up-to-date with the latest research in the field, and recent studies suggest that addressing participants' moods and their treatment management skills can lead to faster relief of depression and anxiety symptoms. As accredited Mental Health Social Workers, we are registered providers with Medicare Australia. This means that we are eligible to provide services through programs such as Better Access to Mental Health Care, Chronic Diseases Management, and Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS).
Our team of Accredited Mental Health Social Workers has extensive experience in assessing and treating various mental disorders, including depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, relationship problems, life crises, adjustment issues, trauma, and family conflict. We understand that psychological problems are often accompanied by social and environmental challenges, and we are here to help individuals resolve both.
At Glen Counselling, we recognize that people seek counselling for a variety of reasons and at different stages in their lives. Whether you are seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or lacking motivation, we are here to support you. We offer individual counselling, relationship counselling for couples, and family counselling.
Our practice adheres to a strict code of conduct outlined by The Australian Association of Social Workers, and we have professional indemnity insurance. We prioritize the privacy and confidentiality of our clients, and all personal information shared during counselling sessions will remain secure and confidential, unless legally required to disclose it.
No referral is necessary to access our services, but you may qualify for Medicare rebates under the Better Access to Mental Health Care program. To access this, you can speak to your GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan. This plan allows you or your child to have up to 10 counselling sessions and 10 group therapy sessions per calendar year. If you don't have a Mental Health Care Plan, you can still see our Social Worker, but there will be a cost involved.
We aim to provide the best service possible, which is why we offer flexible appointment times including Saturdays, weekdays, after hours, and normal office hours. Most appointments are 50 minutes long, as we have found this duration to be optimal for meeting the therapeutic needs of our clients.
It is important to note that positive changes often begin to occur after 4 to 6 counselling sessions, although this can vary depending on the nature and duration of the problems, as well as the effort and willingness of individuals to resolve them.
If your partner is hesitant to attend counselling, we encourage you to take the first step and start easing your pain and stress by seeking counselling for yourself. By demonstrating your commitment to the relationship, you may inspire your partner to join you in couples counselling as they witness the positive changes taking place.
If you need to change or cancel your appointment, we kindly ask that you inform us or your counsellor at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to do so may result in session fees being charged.
At Glen Counselling, we are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality care. Our team of experienced professionals is committed to helping you identify your strengths and make the necessary changes to improve your overall well-being and quality of life. Contact us today to schedule an appointment and take the first step towards a brighter future.
