Reviews of Gearbox Shop
"Awesome work Nev. Went to another shop and they quoted nearly triple the cost. Gearbox Shop had us back on the road inside a week. Highly recommended"
"I went to Neville and Duke with my Jeep. Most garages only offered a gearbox replacement however the Gear box shop reconditioned ours for a third of the price others quoted, with a warranty. The job was complete in a day and now a couple of months down the track gearbox is still preforming well. Very happy with the service."
"The owner of this shop is rude! I took my gearbox in to him to get it fixed. I left it there in the morning. When I was driving away, I still remember telling myself "These guys look dodgy". Their workshop is a mess and their front entrance looks like a wreck yard. I called the owner a few hours later to see progress and he said "He will look at it and give me a call back". Waited till the end of the day and called him because I didn't hear anything. Owner picks the phone and very rudely says "I told you I will call you when I take a look at it" and hangs up. I call again to get clarification, to which he got very angry. Had a sleepless night - went in the next day at 6am and picked my gearbox before he could even open it!!!!! My box was left on the oil stained concrete floor at the entrance where anyone passing by could help themselves to it!!! The box is a rare close ratio dog leg gear box so it is worth a lot just the way it is. So I cannot comment on the quality of their workmanship but the owners carefree attitude and unprofessional responses left me unsettled. Go their at your own risk...."
"STAY AWAY THIS RUDE OLD CUNT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HES DOING !! he has caused thousands of dollars damage to my Mazda 3. i went in to simply get my clutch done i booked it in on a Friday to be fooled that id have it back that day i got it back 6pm Tuesday after to find it was much worse. this idiot had broken the engine mount by forcing it in the wrong position by shoving the screws through the rubber, the engine was but back in to far forward, not the mention the underneath of my car was not connected! the outcome of this was my entire car was shaking inside the car. when i took my car to a real place to be looked at they could not believe the damage he had caused. every time i would call to see what was going on he would be so rude and hang up, in the end he told me every time i called he pushed my job back an hour more like he needed more hours to try cover his mistakes he thought i was to young and stupid to know what he has done well he was wrong this idiot needs to be on the news he does not know what he's doing at all stay away unless you won't more damage !!!!!!!!"
"I rarely experience rudeness like I found here. Every time I called for an update the mechanic got angrier and more aggressive. I left the car on a Saturday and he told me it would be finished 'Wednesday or Thursday'. I called Friday morning to see if the car would be ready that afternoon for the weekend. He told me it would be Monday the following week. I called Tuesday and he angrily told me "I'll call you when it's ready!". I said I just needed to know if I'd have it by the weekend (I had a trip planned) and he told me it would be ready on Thursday. I called him Friday to see if he still thought it would be ready that afternoon, and he shouted "I'M WORKING ON IT!" down the phone and then hung up on me. Needless to say it still wasn't ready that afternoon; he called me that day to give me the first real update (13 days after I left the car with him) and advised that he'd completed most of the work but found a leak in the master cylinder, and had ordered a new cylinder. The work seems fine, although he failed to give me an itemised invoice. I don't really want to speak to him again to find out what he actually did. If he did what I assume he did then the price is reasonable. I would definitely not take my car to this shop again. I was not pushy or demanding, and I wasn't calling him to tell him to hurry up. There is nothing unreasonable about enquiring about when the service will be complete, and following up when it isn't done on time. I am left with a very bitter taste in my mouth from the experience."
