Reviews of Community Kids Haven Early Learning Centre Knoxfield
"Both of my children have attended Community kids haven Knoxfield, my son started when it first opened and my daughter is currently enrolled. Hayley and the team have always been amazing, warm and welcoming and make me feel comfortable and secure leaving my children with them, knowing they will be well looked after. Any concerns or questions are dealt with the upmost respect and communication is quick and fantastic. My daughter had a hard transition (covid baby) and the team was amazing, she wasn't rushed and I was assured we were able to do as many transition sessions needed to make my daughter feel safe and comfortable in the new environment. It is the little things they do that count and make them stand apart from the rest. I highly recommend Community Kids."
"Our friends and family constantly rave about Hayley and her team, if we lived nearby our boys would be going here full time. So we booked a tour and during the tour, we loved to see that the educators take the time to support and nurture the children, and the food is always healthy and fresh, the boys asked for seconds!"
"Good luck if your child is in this childcare. My son was hit by another child using a shovel on 3 separate occasions, with the 3rd hit resulting in a deep long scratch on his right cheek, which has left a permanent scar. This has had a significant impact on his well-being and mental health. The 2nd incident occurred on Sep 2, 2022. and on Sep 5, 2022, I sent a serious complaint letter to the management, expressing my concerns that my son was being targeted by a certain child for bullying, and requested that they conduct a risk assessment and remove the shovel from the facility. On Sep 6, 2022, I received an official response from the senior operations manager that they would look into it. On Sep 9, 2022, my son was hit by a shovel for a third time, resulting in a "tiny" scratch on his right cheek as per educator. I have communicated with the educator, acting manager, and senior operation manager who have been dismissive of my concerns and have failed to take action to protect my son. Their responses are as follows: • Staff: cannot remove the shovel until a risk assessment is done. There is nothing she can do. • Another male educator : argued that it's just a plastic shovel. (Is it common sense that plastic, once broken and made sharp, can pose a deadly threat? And furthermore, isn't it common sense that such sharp objects endanger the safety of children?) • Acting director : found excuses and ignored my concerns. • Senior operations manager : ignored all of my specific questions and concerns, such as why a risk/hazard assessment had not been conducted.? All communication was done via email to avoid any misunderstandings that may occur during verbal communication. Despite my repeated requests for a risk assessment and for the camera footage to be checked, all my questions are ignored. On September 13, 2022, when I escorted my son to child care, I observed two SHARP BROKEN shovels on the sandpit and saw a child holding a SHARP BROKEN shovel. It is evident that the childcare center did not take action to ensure the safety of my son, despite my previous complaints and emphasis on conducting a risk assessment and removing the shovel. I noted that the explanations differs from the incident report, which raises concerns as well. This childcare centre deleted my comments from their Facebook and blocked me from leaving any further comments, indicating that they do not allow any negative feedback. Despite my repeated requests for a hazard/risk assessment and the removal of the shovel after the second incident, it seems that the staff, including the educator, acting manager, and senior management, have no understanding of duty of care, how to handle incidents, or how to ensure child safety. It is common sense to remove anything that could potentially harm anyone, and it is not necessary to report it if you believe it to be dangerous or if it has already been reported as such, unless they choose not to do so It is alarming and shocking that the childcare centre, which is under the supervision of the government Quality Assessment and Regulation Division, is ignoring child safety. If they had listened to me and conducted a hazard/risk assessment after the 2nd incident, they would have noticed that the shovels were BROKEN and had become SHARP. Plastic sharps can be dangerous and even deadly, it can make people permanent blind . I mentioned this in my emails, but it was ignored. If the broken shovel had been removed, my son would never have been hit a 3rd time by a broken shovel and would not have been left with a permanent scar on his cheek. GOOD LUCK to your child."
"In our opinion its is the worst childcare we have sent our kids to , we highly recommend people reconsider taking your kids their. the good staff have left the management is poor, they'll harass you while your at work over a manufactured small issue but then your child comes home with bruises and no body knows anything, they'll constantly mess up your paper work and then blame you for it,"
"I have had all 3 of my children go here, my youngest is still there doing kinder. I can't recommend them highly enough they are all caring and know each child. Great variety of food and accommodating when my child doesn't eat something particular. Special mention to jodie who has helped myself and the centre through covid and coming out of covid, she is someone I know that my son loves and I know that she loves all the kids and is passionate about her job. Thank you for everything you do jodie it is not unnoticed"
