Reviews of The Coffee Club Café - Brisbane International Airport Level 2 Arrivals
"I try to find the silver lining in most things but there wasn’t anything positive to say about this experience. We ordered breakfast at 5am. I ordered a smashed avocado, my oldest daughter ordered the salmon, my husband had a big breakfast and another member of our party also had smashed avo. Both of us who had smashed avo added a poached egg. My husband opted for scrambled eggs as did my daughter who order the salmon. While waiting for our meals a lovely girl came over to inform us that they had ‘run out of scramble mix’ and could we have fried or poached. After a brief moment of confusion we opted for poached. The assumption would be if you have eggs and milk/cream then you would have scramble mix but apparently not. Then my friends smashed avo came out… it was chunks of undressed avo next to bread (not toast) and the waitress announced her ‘fresh avo with toast’. My friend was too polite and hungry to say anything. The egg was also hard- no runny packed yolk. Next my daughter’s salmon came out, it was missing multiple elements (pickled red onion was replaced with raw onion, no chives, radish, lemon or dill) but did come with a large pile of raw spinach which wasn’t listed. Mine came out next. I was also served with a raw piece of bread with a huge pile of raw spinach and a few chunks of avocado. Not only was it missing the pumpkin seeds, dulls and lemon but there was nothing smashed about it. When the waitress put it down she said ‘your fresh avo’ and at this point I’d had enough of this farce and I said ‘no I ordered the smashed avo’ to which the waitress replied ‘It’s still avocado, it’s just not smashed’ to which I replied- ‘Yes, I ordered the “smashed avo”’. The waitress actually rolled her eyes at me and said ‘Fine. I’ll take it back and smash it’. Then she walked off shaking her head at me. When she returned the ‘smashed avo’ was smooshed slightly, on top of a hideous mountain of raw spinach. Once I scraped all the spinach away I probably had the equivalent of 1/4 of an unripe avocado on my untoasted ‘sourdough’. At this point I gave up. I went and bought a sandwich elsewhere and brought it back. My husband’s big breakfast had no avocado, his eggs were hard, his toast was not toasted and his sausages were inedible. All in all the impression I have is that they had no chef present at the cafe today. That’s fine things happen. What is unacceptable is that we weren’t told at ordering so we could amend our orders to something simpler than smashed avocado on toast and scrambled eggs that the cafe staff may have been capable of. What is even less acceptable is the disgusting attitude of the waitress. Her eye rolling, head shaking and general tone was shocking. I have worked in customer service for over 23 years and even when customers were horrible I’ve always maintained a pleasant and professional demeanour. In this case I was polite and I was also right and her attitude was disgusting. If she worked for my company she’d be fired. If this was my business I’d be appalled at the food and the service. For shame. Pictured: my post request ‘smashed avocado’."
"So you wouldn't toast anything In your display window only heat up in the microwave. I couldn't order anything on the top shelf (sandwiches and wraps ect) as it's been there for days (as told by your staff) and not suitable for consumption and I got a yoghurt and you ran out of spoons so had to use a fork. If I could deliver a 0* rating that would be more on par. Sort it out you've had all of covid to make things right."
"The lady at the register is very friendly. The man that serves and does the coffee works really fast. They are accommodating to any requests. Service is A+. But the food was very underwhelming. Omlet looks a bit sad. It's more like a egg pancake. Not worth 18 dollars; with the 5 pieces of chorizo. Bread on top was buttered nicely but was hard as a rock. I finished my meal (hence the 3 stars) but will try a different item next time."
