Reviews of James Cook University, Brisbane Campus
"Rather than studying at James cook, as someone in the youth genuinely interested in environmental science - I would highly recommend UQ instead of James cook, or any other university than James cook. Speaking from friends as well as personal experience. Simply based on the outside looking in as far as financial interest for the COMPANY goes, as well as supporting new scholars in environmental science stands, if you're genuinely interested in the well-being of the world structure and long term care for societal evolution, as it's stands, I would bypass any interest in privatized study as well as any other field. As it will only give you a politically interested "perspective" and try to sell it as justifiable information that can actually be translated into real life Don't let corps make you believe you're more than a cog to them, cuck em"
"A good place of learning and academic excellence. Thanks to the wonderful faculty for the support in my career."
"Treat their professors with zero respect, this University is corrupt and sells out to promote false facts. Tow the line or your fired. Money has corrupted this place."
"First of all, Yes, compared to some universities JCUB seems expensive but they have facilities that you can use yes its a building only not a campus like other universities but if you want a big campus go to the Cairns or Townsville campus they are huge. The small community is kind of cozy and nice. Right in the heart of the city with Brisbane river just across the road. It is just perfect in imperfect way. Shout out to the Resource Centre staff Chi and Quetin for being amongst the best friends I made here. A few points from my experience 1. The teaching staff aren't your regular teachers, they professionals from a diverse array of backgrounds from lawyers to business men. They provide you with valuable mentoring and insight into the real business world and their respective industries. If you are studying MBA be prepared to hands on experience from Luke, Max and Ian with real life experience stories to practical knowledge. To Rob Godby to Vizak and Gregory. You'll find each of them amazingly unique and memorable in their teaching. Trust me you won't forget Luke Spillar's lectures the most amazing lectures on campus. 2. There are learning advisers available on campus who can ask for assistance and support for any academic issues. 3. There are literally more than 9 clubs looked after the student association from the likes of Motorbike club to accounting club. With a number of different activities throughout the year. 4. You have access to job opportunities via job links. 5. You can access free consultations on your personal issues to legal issues with on campus legal advisers and counselling services. I wasn't sure if this was the right University for me but now I feel proud to be a JCUB student. The most amazing memories of my time in Australia are from this place. Thank you to all staff for their support. From support through Covid19 to just home sickness. Thank you for standing beside me. Love you JCUB ❤️"
"From the start there were communication problems. Online studies allows lecturers to hide from students. With no tutors to assist, students are left on their own to resolve problems. The intensive courses don't give you the time to learn from mistakes. For example, if I had received results from my first assignment before I completed my second and had the opportunity to discuss the results with my lecturer or tutor, I would have adapted by writing style. A simple video on how to present your information in that particular discipline would have been of great help. To be fair to James Cook, my knowledge of data analysis was basic but you do attend classes to learn. Many of the problems I have experienced could be solved with better access to teaching staff and a little more forethought in course design. On the positive side my student liaison did her best to assist me."
