About the Business
Welcome to Vinnies, located at 119-123 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong, Australia. As an establishment, point of interest, and store, Vinnies is more than just a place to shop. It is an institution dedicated to helping those in need and making a positive impact on society.
The St Vincent de Paul Society, which Vinnies is a part of, offers over 200 services to support individuals and families facing challenging circumstances. Whether it's providing practical assistance to families struggling to cover the basics or advocating for constitutional recognition of Australia's First Nations peoples, Vinnies is committed to making a difference.
With more than 45,000 members and volunteers across Australia, the St Vincent de Paul Society works tirelessly to combat social injustice and assist those in need. Internationally, the Society operates in 153 countries, boasting over 800,000 members. This global network allows Vinnies to have a far-reaching impact and support communities worldwide.
At Vinnies, we pride ourselves on our values of loyalty, respect, trust, and friendship. We welcome and serve everyone, regardless of their background, creed, or political opinions. Our mission is to transform the causes of poverty and challenge human injustice, while also encouraging spiritual growth and fostering hope for the future.
We are pleased to be a nominating organization for the Australian Government's School Student Broadband Initiative, showcasing our commitment to education and empowering the next generation.
If you're looking to get involved and make a difference, Vinnies is always seeking motivated individuals to join our programs, events, and services nationwide. Together, we can actively and passionately speak out against the causes of poverty and inequality, advocating for those we serve.
Our impact on individuals' lives is truly life-changing. Samantha, for example, turned her life around with a helping hand from Vinnies, now having a bright future ahead for herself and her children. Similarly, J, after being injured and retrenched from his full-time job, found support and hope through our services. And when D lost her job just before her 64th birthday, Vinnies provided the assistance she needed during this challenging time.
As a lay Catholic organization, we strive to create a more just and compassionate society. We acknowledge that we are on Aboriginal land and pay our respects to all traditional custodians. This website may contain images of deceased members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, which are used with the utmost respect and appreciation.
The St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia Inc. is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient, ensuring that your contributions to Vinnies have a meaningful impact.
Join us at Vinnies and be a part of the change we wish to see in the world. Together, we can create a society that is more inclusive, compassionate, and just for all.

Reviews
"Prices here are RIDICULOUSLY high! And they call this an Op shop? What happened to helping the poor? I can buy cheaper items at Myer than this place. I mean $30 for a used Kmart top. And for Dandenong.. Not worth going if you want to be paying more than you should be."
"Well laid out store...good atmosphere but prices sometimes a bit on the high side"
"This was my first time back to op shopping since the pandemic hit. I was so happy that I started again at this flagship-like Vinnie's! Had a great time browsing in the shop, got support from friendly staff, found awesome stuff I'd wanted to get in a long time and the parking was so easy!"
"Good place to buy some general household items and clothes. Most of the merchandise are second hand features a small number of new items as well. Has a good selection of items and most prices are reasonable. Better to have an idea of the market value of an item just so you know you are getting a good deal."
"Very well organised shop, loads of space to walk around and browse. Good labelling and categorisation of the various departments. Books are placed properly and shelved. Everything is super neat and tidy - Even the clothes are colour coordinated. Well worth the trip"
