Reviews of Aviation State High School
"the teachers are a mix of either insanely unprofessional and annoying/outright rude teachers or absolutely goated teachers. the rules are also inconsistent about the uniform, am i allowed to untuck my shirt at lunch or not? am i allowed to take off my hat outside of clayfield? everybody has a different answer. its good with stem but the teachers have a reputation for being nasty."
"I recognise one of the staff members from back when he was a teacher at my old high school. Don't go to this school if he still works here, especially if your child is neurodivergent, they'd sooner chuck your child out than help them through their academics."
"This school is admittedly good in STEM and is a decent school with excellent teachers plus industry connections to the airline industry. Yet, there are some bad apples and these bad apples are hard to avoid. Especially in the English department, the teaching is quite terrible as my teacher misled me and likely my entire class in the assessment, reflecting on our grades. I also heard that this incident also happened to some degree to students last year, but that is not certain. Do not come to this school if you desire to extensively pursue an high level in English as general English -is the highest level."
"Ahhhh memories! This is the school which first taught me what it was like to get harassed by teachers, knocked to the ground by other students, and generally suffer a great deal of misery. My parents put me here expecting a solid scientific education, instead they had to take days off to care for me, and fork out for psych appointments in the wake of clinical depression. Do not send your children here if you at all value them, I wouldn't wish this place upon my worst enemies. Cheers to McGrath though, for being one of the best science teachers I've had, and the only true adult human at the school."
"This school was great in the fact that going through a VET pathway was supported really well with the staff that ran it. However, bullying and harassment at this school was an issue and it was never taken seriously. The guidance counsellor was useless when it came to support felt no comfort whatsoever with my issues I was facing and felt invalidated and useless. A particular senior English teacher at this school is a right out Narcissist and she doesn’t care about students success more about how she can make a student more miserable than they already are, the fact her class size one year went from 30 to 15 students says a lot about how students in this school think of them. The school is a great opportunity when it comes to aviation pathways but In saying so that’s just scraping the surface on deeper issues within the school community itself. Aviation High really in my opinion only cares about its image and results over students well-being and mental health in a school environment….. I’m not saying don’t go here but please sent your kids here with an open mind like any other school."
