About the Business
Welcome to Vinnies, a prominent establishment located at Moorabbin, Wickham Road, 261-263 in Australia. As an institution, Vinnies is not just a store or a point of interest, but a compassionate organization that offers over 200 services to help those in need. We believe in supporting constitutional recognition of Australia’s First Nations peoples and have been advocating for their rights for years.
At Vinnies, we understand that sometimes families struggle to cover the basics due to financial constraints. That's where we step in to alleviate the pressure by providing practical support. By contributing to Vinnies, you can empower Australians facing poverty and offer them an alternative choice.
With a dedicated team of more than 45,000 members and volunteers, the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia works tirelessly to assist those in need and combat social injustice across the country. Our impact extends globally, as we operate in 153 countries with over 800,000 members.
Our values are deeply ingrained in everything we do. Loyalty, understanding, and non-judgmental service are at the core of our mission. We strive to serve everyone, regardless of their creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender, or political opinions. Building relationships based on respect and trust is vital to us, as we work towards transforming the causes of poverty and challenging human injustice.
The St Vincent de Paul Society is honored to be a nominating organization for the Australian Government's School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI). Additionally, we are always seeking motivated individuals who share our community-minded spirit to join our programs, events, and services nationwide.
Beyond our immediate assistance, Vinnies actively speaks out against the causes of poverty and inequality on behalf of the people we serve. We believe in offering a hand up rather than a handout, as exemplified by Samantha's inspiring story of turning her life around with our support.
J, who was injured at a part-time job after being retrenched from his full-time job, and D, who lost her job just before her 64th birthday, are further examples of individuals who have benefited from Vinnies' assistance during challenging times.
As a lay Catholic organization, we are dedicated to creating a more just and compassionate society. We acknowledge that we are on Aboriginal land and pay our respects to all traditional custodians. This website may contain images of deceased members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, which are used with the utmost respect and appreciation.
The St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia Inc. is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient, allowing your contributions to make a meaningful impact.
Join us in our mission to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need. Together, we can create a brighter future for all Australians.

"Really unfortunate that the prices are so high, I was referred here to try and find affordable furniture. As a struggling single mother escaping needing to start again after domestic violence, I can’t help but feel very disappointed. It took me a long time to travel here also Terrible."
"The woman at the register in this store ( receipt name is Robyn) is consistently rude, aggressive, stingy and an absolute disgrace to deal with. This is a frequent longstanding experience I have had with this op shop. Totally opposite of the Vinnie's philosophy and reduces the place to a money making greedy business. If there was 'no star'. I would rate it at that."
"I really like the cool warehouse feel and the really nice displays of their products. This place has all sort of pre-loved goods including furniture. I fell in love with the 2 antique display cupboards which unfortunately was not for sale. Definitely worth a visit again."
"Not only is this the largest Vinnies (St Vincent de Paul Society) store in Victoria but it's also one of the most impressive op shops you can visit. As well as being large, it's well laid out and covers a wide range of very affordable pre-loved goods including women's, men's and children's clothing, pants, denim, knits, coats and jackets, shoes and socks, sportswear, towels, bedding, mattresses, linen, kid's toys, travel goods, batteries, supplements, sporting goods, furniture, books, kitchenware, crockery and glassware, artwork, electronic goods, and specials like toothpaste, toiletries and cleaning products, and heaps more. Check out the photos and you'll see what I mean. It's a must visit op shop. Highly recommended."
