"Dear QCAA, I would love to notify you of the depression and anxiety you have layed upon the thousands of students in Queensland Yours sincerely, Liz xo"
"I don't know how qcaa confirmer markers can lower everyones marks on an assignment because of a small number of samples that were deemed to be "too generous""
"You could have been crucified and they would still say “you should have been there for your maths exam. Your atar is now 0.” 0/10 would not depression again"
"QCAA's assessments are confusing and badly written. On top of all this, the marking system is unfair and they take ages to respond to emails. I had to contact them the other day via phone. The person I talked to transferred me to another operator for further help and unfortunately, no one was available in that section. I left a message as it said to for a call back. No one called me back. No one. Also, the amount of worth they give assessments is ridiculous. 30% for an assessment vs 70% for an exam. In year 12, there is a Maths Methods exam that is worth 50% of your mark. 50 percent!!!!!! Meaning, if you take Methods and don't do that well on the exam, your ATAR is doomed. Atrocious. Talk about screwing up young people's lives. Lastly, QCAA's methods of marking General English is extremely unfair. Why? Some marks for essays are given to your body language, eye contact and tone of voice. This is very biased against neurodiverse students as even if they write an excellent essay, they are still going to be marked down for something they can't control. I saw a review here that said ''you guys are ruining students lives.'' Honestly, describes QCAA perfectly. It would be expected that a quacking 7 year old child wrote the QCAA curriculum as well as all the exemplar assessments they provide (which suck, don't even have full marks and have LOADS of mistakes in them). Would also just like to add how they told the year 12s to study for the wrong thing for an English exam as well as they act like the world is on fire if you submit an assessment one minute late. It is reasonable to assume they do this as they want to ensure every student has the exact same amount of time to work on assessment, however, what difference does a minute make? Absolutely nothing. To make it even worse, students have been used to the Australian curriculum. As soon as they enter year 11, they have no idea how to get high marks as QCAA's curriculum is extremely different. At least prepare us for it in year 10 or write the syllabus to be similar to the Australian one. This may sound petty - on the last Methods exam I took, QCAA put a different version of a rule on the formula sheet that wasn't in the textbook. HIGHLY confusing and beyond frustrating. Come on! To be completely honest, as a female student, QCAA with their unrealistic marking and terrible exemplar assessments and exams, makes me wish it was the 1700's when girls couldn't go to school. Everybody in year 10 doing their SET plans should boycott this system and do TAFE or VET until they fix the curriculum. I am absolutely TERRIFIED to start year 12 next year knowing it's going to be you guys marking my work and not my school. It would be a pleasure to rate you guys 0 stars. This single review can't even put into words how bad they are and how horrendous their curriculum is. If you're going to be doing this, highly recommend energy drinks, tissues (you're going to be crying a lot) and to not expect much help/feedback from teachers in year 12 as all they can give you is a checklist (thanks QCAA). I will say something positive: QCAA does offer a wide range of fantastic subjects for students. I did contact them again for advice on how to gain more QCE points and the person I spoke to was very lovely. Otherwise, you guys NEED to fix this utter garbage ASAP, not only for the sanity of year 11/12s, but also the sanity of teachers and parents alike. Edit: Would just like to add you have to pay to join the QCAA assignments + exam resources on Facebook. Read that again, you have to pay. Absolutely terrible. Wouldn't be surprising if the staff don't even have teacher experience. Deserves even lower than 0 stars."
"Absolutely terrible, you could literally get hit by a car, end up in the ICU for a month and they would say, "You could of done that specialist exam, you weren't dead were you?" They have caused so many people to needlessly fail Y11 and Y12 and the leadership should be fired and imprisoned"
