Situated within a newly renovated building with a rich history as a medical center and pathology clinic, our brand new fit-out allows us to deliver the highest quality care to our patients.

In response to the growing need for specialist periodontics services in the south-west region of Melbourne, our periodontist, Dr. Kate Burgess, began serving the local Hobsons Bay community in early 2017. We are proud to announce that Dr. Nicholas Boardman joined our team in April 2021, further enhancing our expertise and capabilities.

Conveniently located near the corner of Monmouth Street, our clinic offers ample street parking for our patients. Additionally, we have a designated disabled car park situated directly in front of our facility for those who require it. For those using public transportation, the 432 Newport-Yarraville bus stops less than 50 meters away at the corner of Challis and Woods Streets.

In February 2019, we expanded our services to include a specialist prosthodontist. Recognizing the limited prosthodontic support in Melbourne's west, we welcomed Dr. Fotios Angelis to our team. Dr. Angelis attends our Newport practice on Thursdays, providing exceptional prosthodontic care to our patients.

Dr. Kate Burgess, our periodontist, brings a wealth of experience to our institution. She began her training at the University of Birmingham before immigrating to Australia and completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Western Australia in 2007. Throughout her academic journey, Dr. Burgess received prestigious awards such as the Australian Society of Periodontology prize, DJ Cock prize in Periodontics, and the Kenneth JG Sutherland Prize in Clinical Dentistry. With a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontics from the University of Melbourne, Dr. Burgess has been serving patients at various periodontics practices before establishing PerioOne.

Passionate about her work, Dr. Burgess enjoys the challenges associated with patient management of complex multidisciplinary cases. In her spare time, she indulges in LEGO, creative craft projects, cooking, dancing, and sewing. Alongside her partner, Dr. Nicholas Boardman, she takes delight in playing with their adorable dogs and raising their young child.

Dr. Nicholas Boardman, our experienced periodontist and dental implant surgeon, graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1998 with a Bachelor of Dental Science. During his time at university, he received accolades such as the William Leslie Elvins Prize in Oral Surgery and the Des Crack Memorial Prize in Paediatric Dentistry. With over 12 years of experience in general dental practice and teaching undergraduate dental students, Dr. Boardman completed his postgraduate specialist training at the University of Melbourne in 2012. His expertise spans all aspects of periodontal therapy and dental implant surgery, with a special interest in managing soft tissue problems.

Committed to providing exceptional patient care, Dr. Boardman is a member of various dental associations, including the Australian Dental Association (ADA), the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP), the Australian Society of Periodontology (ASP), the Australian Osseointegration Society (AOSVB), and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He served on the AOSVB Executive Committee as the Treasurer from 2009 to 2017 and was the Chair of the ADA Melbourne City Group from 2015 to 2020. Dr. Boardman consistently attends continuing professional development courses to stay at the forefront of his field. In his leisure time, he enjoys recreational cycling, fishing, and engaging in nerdy projects, all while cherishing moments with his loved ones and their dogs.

Dr. Fotios Angelis, our specialist prosthodontist, graduated with honors from The University of Melbourne in 2005. After working at esteemed private practices in Melbourne for six years, he decided to pursue specialist training and completed a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics in 2014. Dr. Angelis possesses a keen interest in aesthetic and complex treatment planning, including implant-based solutions. With extensive experience in both general and specialist dental practice, he is well-versed in the entire spectrum of prosthodontics.

As a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA), the Australian Prosthodontic Society (APS), and the International Team for Implantology (ITI), Dr. Angelis remains dedicated to providing the highest level of dental care to our patients.
