Reviews of Little Rice Bowl Restaurant 米麒麟
"We had a lovely dinner at Little Rice bowl restaurant this evening. Even though it was a Friday evening, the place was quiet and just a few people to dine in. Two beautiful young ladies served us. They were very friendly and kind. Our Bub was happy to get his own little chair and dishes. The food was very yummy and was quick. We absolutely enjoyed our dining experience at Little Rice Bowl restaurant."
"Food My wife and I dined on a quiet Fri night in May. We ordered a beer, one entrée, two mains and a bowl of rice. For the entrée, it was our fave veg spring rolls. There were six generous crispy rolls to a serve neatly arranged on the plate. The vegetarian filling was soft and tasty. They came straight out of the ovens and they were piping hot. Next, came our two main courses and they didn’t disappoint either. We chose the sizzling black pepper steak and the stir fried tofu with vegetables. My meat was finely sliced, making it easy to digest, and it was accompanied by lashings of delicious fried onions, shallot and mushrooms. The pepper spicy sauce was the icing on the cake, and gave the dish a tangy taste and flavour. My wife’s stir fry dish was a nice serve with soft and chewy tofu, a selection of fresh and colourful vegetables and topped off with a soy sauce. The fluffy white rice was the perfect accompaniment. Service There were two pretty young ladies on duty. They were both friendly, polite and efficient. Our orders were quickly taken and drinks, entrees and main meals came out at a steady clip and in the correct order. As this was my first time using the Eat Club pay app, I was a little uncertain how to finalise the transaction but these guys were patient and helpful, and in the end I got the 15% discount minus the hateful "card processing fee". Atmosphere Even though it was a Fri night at around 7pm, the place was quiet and there were only a handful of other diners. The space is divided into two dining areas separated by an archway. We sat in the uppermost part, at a cosy table by the window, looking out onto the Moggill Road streetscape outside. The chairs were comfy and the table was large enough to easily fit all the drinks and dishes. The interior has been decorated in traditional Chinese style with faux windows on the walls, lots of greenery and wooden furniture. I did find the lighting though a bit too dim, and that, combined with the rather dark colour tones, gave the place a somewhat sombre ambience, especially as it was fairly empty. The table lamp didn’t help much either, it just got in the way. Cost We used the Eat Club app to book and get 15% off the bill, which I thought was a reasonable deal. Under the new E.C. arrangements though, you need to load their digital card onto your phone and pay with that. The discount, less the “card processing fee” (which effectively reduces the discount by about 2%) will be automatically factored in. It worked like a charm and we ended up paying 55. That’s not a bad value in these hyperinflationary times. Toilets This is where things get a bit tricky. There are no toilets inside the restaurant, so you need to get a key from one of the waitresses and traverse a narrow, dimly lit stairwell at the back. Down below, there is no lighting at all, and I couldn’t even find the lights inside the toilets, so everything had to be done in the darkness, as I’d not bothered to bring my phone with me. From what I could make out, the toilets were in reasonable condition and there was soap and hand towels, but they need to seriously upgrade the lighting both inside and outside. Parking There is street parking if you can find a spot, which we couldn't, so we drove a little further and found one-hour parking outside the busy Domino’s Pizza store in a little shopping strip on the corner of Moorak Street, which also has a gym and a bottle shop. I don’t think this little parking area is monitored at night, so you should be safe even if you stay more than one hour. Summary We had a pleasant evening here and everything ran smoothly, from booking, to ordering, service, food, ambience and easy payment options using the Eat Club pay app. Food is high quality and the waitresses are super nice and polite."
"Had a feed here with the kids and we all loved it! The Lemon Chicken was solid and so was the Peking boneless pork."
"Ordered some takeaway for a group dinner via Eatclub (20% off): * ginger & shallot braised chicken, $17.95 * sweet & sour fried fish, $21.95 * Peking sauce with fried boneless pork, $19.95 * sizzling black pepper steak, $22.95 * four seasons mixed vegetables, $14.95 We had 2 serves of each item except the steak to go with our own rice, for a total of 9 dishes shared between 11 adults and 1 child. Either we were all pretty hungry or the food was just too tasty but it was all gobbled up in no time and hindsight says we probably should have ordered another few dishes. In any case it was a pretty cheap feed at just under $140 for the lot after the Eat Club discount. Have heard from a few friends that the food here can be hit and miss - glad my experience started on a positive note!"
"It was our sons birthday and wanted to take them out for lunch we decided on the Little Rice Bowl. The meals were presented beautifully and they tasted just as good. The venue gives a welcoming vibe and the staff are friendly. Please check out their website and visit you won't be disappointed."
