"I just googled to find this place again as I had stumbled on a few weeks back as I grabbed a sandwich there and it was so good I was thinking about it for days. There’s another review saying the service wasn’t good which prompted me to write one myself as it was really warm when I went there. I was even there about 20 minutes before closing time and the two staff were friendly and helpful even though I was indecisive and there right before closing. I drank my coffee there and took my sandwich away. Coffee was delicious and sandwich packaged beautifully and tasted amazing!"

"This place is amazing!! The vegan food is UNBEATABLE- sandwiches with the softest bread, delicious sweet treats, and incredible hot and cold drink options. Loving the 70’s/nihilistic decor, tall ceilings, and comfortable seating options, and great service to boot."

"Fantastic food, we had the Big Smack and the Truffle Mushroom and they were delicious. The coffee was also delightful, the Biscoff chai caught my attention and blew my mind on the first sip. We also had a choc chip cookie, and boy oh boy was it sweet and yummy. My only critique is that it is a little pricey, but these are pricey times. Still completely worth heading to if you love good food, good coffee or just like getting out. Thanks Johnny’s!"

While they attempted to explain the different coffee options, I felt like a burden with my questions and it lacked warmth and understanding. This cafe won't appeal to everyone. if you're curious to experience a Melbourne coffee shop that seems stuck in the past, albeit not in the most charming way, then this might be the place for you. It's like stepping into a time capsule while sipping on a lukewarm cup of coffee. All in all, my visit was a rather weird experience. While the flavours left much to be desired, the ambience had a certain offbeat appeal. So whether you're a coffee connoisseur or a novice like me, I cautiously suggest giving this shop a try and forming your own opinion. Just be prepared for a less-than-stellar experience."
