"Bullying from property management, break-ins, thefts, and we're now going through the RTA to try and get our bond back on an apartment we left in immaculate condition. We signed our lease extension in 2022, shortly after I was called into their office, surrounded by staff, and told it was a mistake. They forgot to increase it by $20 per week, and wanted me to agree to an amended rental contract for more money. They stood in silence, trying to coerce me into paying more than the contracted amount. Needless to say, it was an awful and anxious experience. Upon leaving, they suddenly deducted $700 for 15 months worth of water bills from our bond. Even though I claimed these were unreasonable, as a QCAT precedent decided it was "unreasonable for a lessor (property owner) to withhold water charges and issue an invoice that covers a significant period and a significant amount". Despite me showing them this, they insist we still owe this, so we're now going through the RTA (and probably QCAT) to have this resolved. They also added a $100 deduction to our bond for repairs, despite the exit report showing everything was in clean, working and undamaged condition. When I asked what this was for, there was no answer or explanation. I've included photos to show how we left the unit. In short, we're in line to get around 15% of our bond back, despite using the cleaning, carpet and pest services they themselves recommended we use. In fact, the bond they've offered us back doesn't even come close to covering the cleaning services. If we were worse people, we would have been far better off not cleaning the place at all and losing 100% of our bond. We also often heard stories of robberies and thefts from the open parking lot downstairs, as well as one tenant having their actual apartment broken into. It just isn't worth it. The location was good, and the other residents were all lovely. Walking across to Brookside was handy. But the stress and anxiety of how you'll be treated by management, and the anxiety of wondering if there's a stranger in the basement parking lot just aren't worth it."
"Be very careful renting here..particularly the bullying over cleaning on exiting. After a full professional bond clean and even a follow up when not happy, insisted on getting their own cleaners on top of all that after the outdoor balcony was soiled from 2 storms that week (which was after vacating the unit). $750 in total for a small bed unit that was spotless after the first clean. Their behaviour was disgusting. Caused a lot of stress and anxiety. Agree with previous comments..look elsewhere."
