About Monash Law Clinics - Clayton
Welcome to Monash Law Clinics - Clayton, an establishment dedicated to providing access to justice for thousands of Victorians in need. Located at Beddoe Avenue, 60 in Clayton, Australia, our institution is a point of interest for individuals seeking legal assistance.
Currently, our office is operating remotely for all clients due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our reception team is available between 9.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, to book telephone appointments. We understand the importance of continued legal support during these challenging times.
At Monash Law Clinics, we are committed to serving our clients through telephone appointments. To book a phone appointment, clients can call 1800 860 333. These appointments will last approximately 30 - 40 minutes and will be conducted by law students under the supervision of experienced lawyers.
We prioritize clients who are disadvantaged for health or financial reasons and/or are impacted by family violence. However, all client bookings are subject to a conflict of interest check to ensure fair representation. Our services include assistance with Intervention Orders, specifically for family violence and personal safety matters.
When you arrive at our law clinic for your appointment, you will be asked to take a seat in the waiting room until your name is called by one of our law clinic students. While we strive to see you at your scheduled interview time, please note that there may be a delay due to unforeseen circumstances.
During your appointment, one or two students will interview you and gather all the relevant facts about your legal matter. They will also review any documents you bring to assist in gathering all the necessary information. Once they have compiled the necessary information, the students will return to advise you on your legal position and discuss potential options for handling and resolving your problem. They will also inform you if any further appointments are required.
As a free Community Legal Centre, Monash Law Clinics provide legal advice without any cost to you. However, please note that there may be expenses involved in the conduct of your case, especially if it involves court proceedings. You may be eligible for legal aid to cover these expenses, but if not, you will be responsible for paying them yourself. Expenses may include court filing fees and the cost of a barrister if you require representation in court.
In Australia, many individuals face barriers to accessing justice, such as high legal fees and limited resources for asylum seekers or refugees. Government-funded legal aid services often struggle to meet overwhelming demand, resulting in many people being turned away. Monash Law Clinics aims to bridge this gap by expanding our services in Melbourne CBD, Clayton, and through our partnership with South-East Monash Legal Service. We are committed to assisting vulnerable members of our community while educating our students in practical, ethical, and professional legal practice.
Don't just take our word for it. Our clients have expressed their gratitude for the help they received from us. One client said, "I didn't have anywhere else to go. I'm really grateful for the help I got." Another client mentioned, "Without you, I would have faced payment of a fortune. You and your team have made a huge difference in a difficult time." We strive to provide exceptional support and guidance during challenging legal situations.
If you require assistance, please call us to book an appointment. We do not provide legal advice over the phone, by email, or through our website. For any complaints, we encourage open communication and ask that they be addressed in writing to the Director, Monash Law Clinics at 60 Beddoe Avenue, Clayton 3168, or by email at Law-clinics@monash.edu. Alternatively, complaints can be lodged with the Legal Services Board via email at admin@lsbc.vic.gov.au or by telephone at 1300 796 344.
We would like to acknowledge and pay respects to the Elders and Traditional Owners of the land on which our four Australian campuses stand. For more information specifically for Indigenous Australians, please visit our website.

Reviews of Monash Law Clinics - Clayton
"Really helped me out! A big thanks to all that assisted me getting my train ticket fine withdrawn that caught up to me from a decade ago"
"These people really don't care at all. They really don't want to get anything done, and just try to shrug off the problem, and try to get you off the phone as soon as they can."
"I had Monash Law clinic appointment in 555 Londsdale st.. Two students came for my appointment. What is happened I needed legal support for my Divorce. They came and ask my personal details then They got all of the copy of my Divorce papers and Binding Financial agreement details and passport copy and Marriage copy. They are students. They don’t give any single word help for documents. Just grab all Of the personal documents.. they said that’s it. This is not the place for free legal services. They used people time and documents to learn for students.. Be aware taking those documents for them I don’t wanted to get anyone trouble again."
"Years ago I had a fantastic experience at this centre receiving guidance on representing myself to get an intervention order. However I attended this week to support my adult daughter with a stresssful situation and had a disappointing experience. I took time off work, on top of the time from both of us driving there, and my daughter explaining her situation, and being at the clinic for a couple of hours, we were eventually told no advice could be given due to property being part of the matter. The staff were lovely but the reception staff need to do a better job of clarifying about what the matter is, on taking bookings, as my daughter had mentioned property in her initial booking. We both wasted our morning as did the staff. Plus I wanted to email this feedback but the website has no email address, only phone number."
