About the Business
Welcome to Tweddle Child & Family Health Service, located in Footscray, Sydney Street, 70. As an establishment dedicated to health and well-being, we are not just a hospital, but also a point of interest for families in Australia.
At Tweddle, we believe in the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. We celebrate and welcome individuals from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, intersex status, culture, sexual orientation, relationship status, language, faith, ability levels, or socio-economic backgrounds. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels heard, valued, and respected.
We also acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work, honoring Elders past and present. We are committed to supporting babies, toddlers, children, and families in staying connected to their cultures, communities, and Countries.
While Tweddle was once referred to as a 'Sleep School', we offer much more than sleep and settling. Our Early Parenting Centre programs have the power to change the trajectory of families' lives, with far-reaching consequences for generations to come. We provide support and guidance to parents and carers of babies and toddlers, helping them strengthen attachment, understand sleep and settling, read their child's cues, develop parenting skills and confidence, and connect with their community.
At Tweddle, we are proud to have experts in the field of infant mental health on our team. Dr. Nicole Milburn, Chair of the Tweddle Foundation and the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health, along with other esteemed professionals, will be speaking at the SNAICC's 10th National Conference on Larrakia Country. Their presentation will focus on solution-focused approaches to supporting infants and their families involved in Child Protection Services.
One example of our specific approach to Aboriginal families in the Children's Court is the Marram-Ngala Ganbu program, which will be showcased during the conference. Commissioner Meena Singh will lead a group discussion advocating for change in the Child Protection Court system to better meet the needs of Aboriginal families. The Tweddle Foundation is actively working with leaders from family services, justice, research, and health to advocate for a more baby and family solution-focused approach in child protection cases.
In addition to our involvement in conferences, we are excited to introduce our new program, Growing Great Babies & Kids (GGB&K). This early intervention program is designed for expectant parents, providing tailored support throughout pregnancy and the first few weeks after the baby is born. Our caring and experienced team, including midwives, early parenting professionals, a social worker, and a lactation consultant, work in partnership with families to create individualized plans that support the health and growth of both the expectant parents and their baby, while building parenting confidence. Support and education are provided both one-on-one and in small groups.
The GGB&K program is available to pregnant individuals living in Western Melbourne, specifically in the Local Government Areas of Wyndham, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, and Melbourne. Expectant parents can self-refer to the program or be referred by their GP, Health Professional, or Child Protection or Family Services worker.
We also have various locations throughout Victoria, including Wyndham, Brimbank, Maribynong, Geelong, Terang, and Hindmarsh, ensuring accessibility for families in different areas.
At Tweddle Child & Family Health Service, we are committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to families. Join us on this journey of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, where everyone's unique voice is not only heard but celebrated.

"We had a comfortable 3 night residential stay. The nurses and staff were friendly, accommodating and offered advice and techniques to use. The real MVP though goes to Gina, she was amazing in getting our son to sleep and we felt when we left we were prepared to sleep train him at home. Thank you Tweddle Footscray"
"I had a great stay at Tweddle. We bought our almost 1 year old in together after being referred by our MHN. We have been having sleep troubles for ever since she was born. I as her mother a bit more so because I felt my partner lacked the confidence he needed to be able to help at bed times and settling. Because he lacked confidence he became a little bit overwhelmed or frustrated and would give in. I do believe one more night stay would have been perfect to feel a little more complete in our routine. I do however understand that staffing issues and long wait lists make it difficult to have people stay for a full 5 days. With the help of the nurses at Tweddle, both my partner and I have some new tools and the confidence to go home with and continue our progress! Special thankyou to Mila and Lisa they have been super supportive and made our stay so much more enjoyable, comfortable! Thanks to them I feel so so much confident I myself and my decisions! I can tell they are both very passionate about what they do!"
"The school is good however 4 days is not enough x teach the kids to sleep they need to improve the riutine as we not spend all day inside they need to give a possibility to go out x walking or playground then back x other information time is sometime you know but as a Parents you need a people teach us to be less stress for my opinion during the time they can teach yoga for baby and mum however some staff are amazing thanks"
