Relational Minds
About the Business
Welcome to Relational Minds, a leading establishment in Sunbury, Australia, dedicated to providing holistic family therapy, child psychiatry, and child psychology services. Located at Macedon Street, 33-35, our institution is a point of interest for those seeking professional support for the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and families.
At Relational Minds, we specialize in child and adolescent mental health assessments and supportive therapies, working closely with parents and caregivers to promote positive emotional development and guide them through the recovery process from mental illness. Our ultimate mission is to create a more hopeful world for children by improving their relationships through supporting their parents.
With multi-disciplinary teams based in Sunbury, Woodend, and Mildura, Victoria, our approach is rooted in a holistic perspective. We assess, diagnose, and ultimately improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people. Our specialist brand of child and adolescent mental health care is built on the principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and driven by the attitudes of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy, known as P.A.C.E.
We believe that healthy trusting relationships are crucial for the emotional development of young people. That's why our unique approach involves caring for parents and caregivers first, providing them with the necessary information, support, and skills to better care for their child with a mental health issue. We aim to help you understand and support your family system, build your confidence in supporting your child's emotional development, and teach you therapeutic parenting skills and self-care techniques.
Parenting is already a challenging responsibility, and for parents with a mental illness, the challenges can be even greater. That's why we offer strategies and support for parents in such situations. We also address other important topics, such as how to help a child with autism feel more comfortable during doctor's appointments, and how parents can support their children to prevent bullying or deal with accusations of bullying.
Our expert team of mental health professionals in Victoria works closely with you to gain a holistic understanding of your child and their world, including their family and caregiver system. Based on Kim Golding's Foundations for Attachment Program, we help Victorian parents develop an understanding of their child's emotional development, build therapeutic parenting skills, and practice consistent self-care.
In addition, our team includes Art Therapists who employ art therapy to improve psychological health and discover coping mechanisms with your child. We also strongly advocate for family therapy to build or repair family relationships and develop positive and helpful ways of interacting with your child. Our expert family therapists are here to assist with any challenges your family may be facing and help develop effective resolution skills.
Furthermore, our experienced psychologists offer assessments of psychological functioning for children aged 6 and up. We provide various assessments, including Cognitive (Intelligence) Testing, Literacy and Numeracy Testing, and personality assessments. Our psychologists have vast experience in therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Functional Recovery, Art Therapy, and Sensorimotor (Body Based) Psychotherapy.
If you suspect your child may have ADHD or autism, our clinicians offer assessments and ongoing therapy for these conditions. We also provide mental health assessments and treatment for young people in Out-Of-Home Care (OOHC), working closely with the child protection system and child protection staff in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
At Relational Minds, we are dedicated to supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and families in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Our parental support programs and professional mental health services are designed to provide the necessary care and guidance for child mental health. Join us in creating a more hopeful world for children by improving their relationships through supporting their parents.

"Very disapointed and frustrated, contacted them a while ago as we seriously need help with a very mentaly unwell child, have tried so many avenues and nothing....we reached out to rational minds and filled in the enquiry form, was contacted a while later to fill in more online forms, and nothing, even after an email from our GP explaining the situation...we are getting desperate, and they don't answer the phone, respond to emails, nothing. Even if they were to contact me tomorrow with an appointment I'm not sure we would trust them to help us.i know the system is over run, but they could at least acknowledge an email and a give time frame. Not helping in what is an incredibly difficult situation."
"treaters are great, the reception staff however are incompetent, they don't answer or return calls or emails. I have now been charged twice hundreds of dollars for services that were never conducted and now can't get a response..."
"Relational Minds held our family's hand and cared for us during a very tricky time. Alberto was very understanding, highly knowledgeable and was able easily able to relate to our family member needing help. We walked the journey back to wellness as a family with RM with us every step of the way. We cannot thank you enough. The art therapies and family clinicians were also excellent."
"Excellent organisation. Admin staff are friendly, respectful and quick to respond to enquiries. Great team approach to working with clients and other providers too"
"They do not answer the phone or respond to emails. Extremely unprofessional and definitely not the kind of people you want helping you with your mental health. 100% would NOT recommend. Edit - I was told to fill in a bunch of paper work which I did and was informed someone would call to arrange an appointment, they never did and it’s been months. Since then I have sent you an email to follow up and tried to call multiple times. Fair enough you are over run but how hard is it to send an email that just says “we are not taking new people”. I mean look how long it took you to write a response to this. I guess I’m just a touch confused you could do this but not respond to an email. I’m extremely disappointed."
