"As a past student I would say there are countless other schools way better than Killester. In fact most people from my yr7 homeroom transferred out of this school after 1-2 years (including me!) ... The students aren't the issue and most probably won't have trouble with bullying or making friends. The education, most teachers and the new programs just suck. A concerning amount of teachers seem like they hate their life/job and it reflects and affects students. The new policies are strict like wearing a black scarf or white socks with a tiny logo or being late to school will land you a detention! Friends have informed me of a new 'wonder' program that is pointless and provides students with additional stress to create projects that they have to buy materials for with their own money!!! Maths teachers have told me in the past that my answers were wrong even though I arrived at the same and correct answer, I just had different working out and solving. They just hand you some questions and expect you to know it all. Students are sweethearts though so if you just go to school for that highschool experience then Killester is for yaaaaa lol"
"Like most schools there are some fantastic teachers willing to go above & beyond for students and of course there are some that much like the students they don't want to teach.. don't want to be there! I am hoping the VCAL program has improved or been dismantled as the staff running it a few years ago had no interest in wanting to teach the program and the students were the ones to suffer; repeating the same work from the previous year as nothing had been prepared. Has the potential to be a wonderful school, but if your child is not academically inclined they will be left behind."
