Meyerowitz-Katz Julia
About the Business
Welcome to Meyerowitz-Katz Julia, a renowned establishment located in the beautiful Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Australia. As an ANZSJA trained Jungian Analyst, I have dedicated over 30 years to providing psychodynamically oriented clinical services and over 20 years of experience as a clinical supervisor.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various mental health settings and in private practice, gaining invaluable knowledge and expertise. I have also made significant contributions to the field through publishing papers and chapters in books, as well as co-editing a book on art psychotherapy with young children and their carers. Additionally, I have had the privilege of teaching on Masters in Art Psychotherapy programs in both the UK and Australia, as well as being involved in ANZSJA's C.G. Jung Institute training.
My specialization lies in individual and couple psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, as well as providing supervision to students, trainees, and experienced clinicians. As a Training Analyst with ANZSJA, I am qualified to supervise Candidates in training. When appropriate, I incorporate art making into psychotherapy and analysis, drawing upon my training and experience as an art psychotherapist.
My approach is centered around creating a confidential and safe space in which I actively listen and reflect upon the matters that trouble individuals. This includes their daily life events, dreams, symptoms, symbolic imagery, and art work. I carefully consider the expression of thoughts and feelings, aiming to be sensitively attuned to the therapeutic relationship. Through shared thinking and discussion, we work towards understanding underlying issues, ultimately aiming to diminish symptoms, increase confidence, and enhance overall well-being.
Over the years, I have worked with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, sexual difficulties, abuse, self-harm, eating disorders, migration, PTSD, and complex trauma, including Holocaust and intergenerational trauma. Sometimes, individuals seek my services because they have a sense that something is not right in their lives, despite everything appearing fine on the surface. Regardless of the specific issues, people often feel profoundly alone with their troubles, and I strive to provide the support and care they need.
In the words of some past patients and analysands, who have kindly given permission to quote them anonymously, my care and respect for our therapeutic relationship have been deeply appreciated. Clients have expressed how the continuity provided by regular sessions has offered grounding and structure, helping them manage the stresses of life and past traumas. Couples have also reported significant improvements in their relationship and personal growth through our therapy sessions.
To capture the essence of the therapeutic process, I turn to the words of C.G. Jung: "We can hardly escape the feeling that the unconscious process moves spiral-wise round a centre, gradually getting closer, while the characteristics of the centre grow more and more distinct." This metaphor beautifully encapsulates the transformative journey of the personal psyche, as we navigate the complexities of the unconscious and work towards self-discovery and growth.
If you are seeking a compassionate and experienced Jungian Analyst in the Woollahra Municipality of Bondi Junction, I invite you to reach out and begin your own transformative journey towards a more creative and fulfilling life.
