About Surrey Park Swimming - Blackburn
Welcome to Surrey Park Swimming - Blackburn, one of the oldest swimming clubs in Australia, established in 1904. Situated in Box Hill South on Middleborough Road, our institution is a renowned establishment and a point of interest for swimming enthusiasts.
At Surrey Park, we prioritize correct stroke technique, but we also understand that children learn best when they are in a nurturing and engaging environment. Our low student ratios, qualified swim instructors, and commitment to continual training ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and have fun.
We offer two convenient locations in the eastern suburbs. The Blackburn Learn to Swim Centre provides a unique experience as you learn to swim in mineral-based saltwater. This is ideal for individuals with skin conditions or those who prefer to reduce exposure to chemicals. Alternatively, you can choose Aqualink Box Hill, where you can enjoy aquatic play spaces for free on the day of your lesson.
We are proud to support our community through our CAPS program. For every lesson undertaken, we donate money to facilitate swimming lessons for newly arrived migrants, students with disabilities, and financially disadvantaged families. Additionally, we conduct free talks on water safety for kindergartens and schools.
Our Learn to Swim program seamlessly transitions into our Club Squad program, led by our Head Coach Justin Bell. The Club Squad caters to swimmers of all levels and abilities, from junior development to high-performance levels.
For infants, our specially trained teachers focus on water familiarization and building confidence through songs and repetition. As your child progresses, our comprehensive learn to swim program teaches them essential swimming skills and water safety, ensuring they have a lifelong skill.
We understand the importance of fun and comfort during lessons, which is why we offer teen grouped classes, allowing children to learn to swim with peers their own age. We believe that it's never too late to learn to swim, so whether you're 18 or 70, we welcome individuals of all ages and abilities.
In addition to our regular classes, we also offer capped classes or private lessons for children with special needs, catering to a wide variety of abilities and requirements.
For those interested in competitive swimming, our swim training program focuses on building distance, strength, and fitness, providing a pathway to competitive swimming.
If your child is interested in diving, our fun beginner dive program introduces them to exciting skills such as dives, twists, tucks, and somersaults, offering a great introduction to the sport of diving.
We understand that busy schedules can make it challenging to attend lessons during the term. That's why we offer intensive programs, allowing your child to fast-track their progress or ensure they can still participate in lessons.
In addition to our individual programs, we also offer a learn to swim and aquatic program specifically designed for schools and communities in our local area.
Our operating hours vary between our locations. Aqualink Box Hill is open on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and Sundays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Box Hill South/Blackburn is open on weekdays from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and closed on Sundays. Aqualink at Box Hill operates from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays and from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on weekends.

Reviews of Surrey Park Swimming - Blackburn
"Very well run swim school. Staff are diligent and have always communicated regularly about our kid's progress."
"My child keep complaining of the chemical smell of the pool so if you child is very sensitive, better stay away. Also, the swim school no longer allowed people to swap lesson between blackburn and box hill center, and make up is difficult at the end of the term."
"Though I am new to the facility but I like to share my experience here. The staffs and swim instructors are very kind and engaging with kids, very welcoming. My lil one very scared of water, first i enrolled her at box hill location where i had bad experience. Her instructor was very immature. He doesn't know how to handle young kids. There was 2 tall kids who was doing experimental things as kids does among themselves in the class. My kid got scared with lot of splashes and he told her to stand / sit outside water without comforting at least talking to us. Then we moved her here in blackburn. In first day I saw the difference in teaching with kids. I am so grateful to Ms. Isabel and Ms. Georgia.. They are so patience with young kids and install confidence/ trust, that my shy scared kud also loves her teachers and willing to go to swim lessons. The things I noticed, they familiarise the kids with just simple acts- with little glass of water in the start of the class . Just encourage them to kick harder with floating the balls in the water etc wonderful small acts but very effective and engaging for little young kiddos. I didn't got any favour or any advantage for this post. These are all from a mom of a young child who previously scared water but now due to this school , she is loving it. A big shoutout for wonderful swim instructors and their hard work."
"Aqualink & Blackburn have great staff and a warm welcoming culture. Experienced young swim teaching crew that are motivated and proactive, blackburn offers a quiet environment with effective learning & less distraction, new facilities & great car parking, thanks for being a great team and all the great comms to parents and staff always. #staysafe"
"Wonderful swim school! Highly recommended! The staff are extremely nurturing and caring of children's needs and are very friendly and informative! I love that this swim school has a mineral pool and is great for sensitive skin as my children suffer quite badly from eczema and the chlorine stings at other pools. I also love that they donate money from each swim lesson to help those that are disadvantaged in the community! Bless!"
