Sam's journey in the finance industry began in 1999 as a sales consultant at Action Suzuki. Since then, he has worked in various roles in large automotive groups such as AHG, Suttons, and Inchape, gaining extensive experience in asset finance. As the head of our Asset Finance Division, Sam brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Little Warrior Loans.

"This is my review of Mauro the broker Little Warrior Loans for my home loan based on my experience in May-Jul 2022. When you use a broker you expect them to save you money getting a better loan and to assist them through the application process. This wasn’t the case. This broker is unprofessional, incompetent, lazy, has poor relationship management skills and overall provided an extremely poor service. Once I started this process I was concerned that if I cancel the application, there will be a credit enquiry that will then lower my credit score. He makes you feel helpless vulnerable, and you feel you are trapped and have to stay with him so think twice before using him. Here is an exhausting list of problems I encountered: • Extensive time delays in processing the application. It took over 2 months 1 week to process (05May-12Jul). It is a waiting game. He provided no outline of the process of stages for progress, so there is no visibility of a timeline to completion. • He managed the application extremely poorly. The documentation request and handling process is terrible not asking upfront but waiting weeks down the track where you have to obtain from third parties like house insurance certificates where you have to request them for a new one causing more delays. • He managed the settlement extremely poorly. The Bank’s settlement representative informed me the settlement date had been pushed back because he had not yet provided them with documents that I had already sent to him. • He has an inefficient online application portal system. After completing online documents were sent by email but should be accessible through the portal, causing further delays. • He offered no variety of lenders or packages of loan types. His role was to look at a wide range of them and to discuss the various features of loans. No comparison was made only a list of who is available, so with him choice is limited. I did not know the fees & charges until the offer was made. • He did not disclose or discuss his commission. He receives $4790.50 and 0.15% per annum on loan balance for what I estimated was less than 10 hours work. This should make the level of service exceptional, but it wasn’t. You are better off to find a broker that has a fixed 'fee for service' or simply go straight to the lender. • I never met him he didn’t even meet to pick up documents. He asked me to drop them off or go to the bank branch. I went to the bank but he had no relationship with them they seemed like they didn’t know the process including relying on the banks internal mail to be collected causing further delays. • He incorrectly lodged the application. He suggested I apply for a higher amount but then failed to submit my application to report my additional income, only to jeopardize the approval resulting in a lower amount being offered and the loan provider making two loan enquiries on my credit score. Later I had to write to the bank as a complaint to have one enquiry removed. • Double handling. Before him there was another person in his firm who I dealt with that really added no value, they later intervened when I expressed my concerns of the delay. They acted like a public relations person as he was not contactable. • I made a formal complaint against the broker to the bank. He told me to deal with the bank and later said the application was cancelled. A bank broker started a new application advising the entire process would have to be restarted. Instead I had to liaise with the bank and their settlement representative to complete his job. There were no adverse issues on the application: • I had plenty of equity in the property • I have an excellent credit score • I have excellent serviceability • No physical valuation was required (desktop online undertaken). The stress created by waiting for him to progress was the worst part. I could not make any plans due to the extensive delay. It just seems either he doesn’t care or has too much business either way the experience was terrible, and he should be avoided so use his service as your own peril!"
