Reviews of Australian Sports Camps
"A very expensive way to traumatise my child… My nearly 9yo son attended the afl footy camp over school holidays. It was rife with bullying despite having an “anti bullying policy/zero tolerance claim.” The program advertises fruit for morning tea which was not provided, agility sessions with technology that never happened and progressive skill development which was more attuned to a glorified Auskick program… The AFL player never showed up on day 2, lunch wasn’t long enough (10-15 mins day 1 all 3 kids I took came home with nearly full lunch boxes) and the kids were told they couldn’t chat during lunch. The program offered “new sporting experiences and gain new skills” but all 3 kids I brought (my 9 year old and 2 x 11 year olds) were not challenged. Granted these kids play local footy, but for the time and price commitment we were expecting challenging training and new ways of learning. Tackling wasn’t allowed which at first they were disappointed by but after seeing the bullying and lack of supervision they were grateful for. My child was called every swear word under the sun (including n*ggr?) before being pushed purposely into the mud. He was also told his parents died in a car crash and he was an orphan, was made fun of for his long hair and “rabbit teeth” and punched in the stomach for no reason (observed by other kids.) Our kids observed other children fighting and crying and when they escalated it the coaches didn’t intervene. On the third day one of our kids refused to attend and the other 2 called me at 11 to go home because they had enough. When I arrived there were about 80 kids all being minded by only 2 coaches… Whilst the coaches were fun, the time between activities, lack of challenge and lack of genuine, present observation allowed disgusting unsafe behaviour."
"Child was very positive and energised after every camp day and would say that it was AMAZING!"
"Over the recent holidays, my child attended two ASC camps - one for cricket, and one for netball. Over 11 years of motherhood, I have seen many children's programs in operation. I can honestly say that is is one of the best we have attended. The coaches made sure all children were included and were given instruction that allowed them to grow and improve, whether they be beginners learning the basics or talented players wanting to refine their skills. There was a strong emphasis on inclusion and cohesion, that filtered down from the staff and saw children cheering each other for their individual accomplishments. Skills were developed, fun and exercise had, and self-esteem enhanced. I highly recommend."
"My 9 year old attended the Soccer Camp (Bull Creek) and thought it was wonderful. The coaches were patient with all the kids, and their knowledge outstanding. My son picked up new techniques across the board for the game, and further refined his midfield skills. Definitely recommend :)"
"My 7 year old son LOVED the program! He can't wait for the next camp. We sent him on his first camp so he can have fun and because we know he loves the sport (soccer). Following the cam,. we were quite struck by how he had noticeably improved after only 3 days of training."
