Gab Tydd Therapy
About the Business
Welcome to Gab Tydd Therapy, located in Newtown, Australia. As a qualified Person-Centred counsellor and certified Person-Centred creative arts counsellor, I offer a unique and effective approach to therapy. I believe that art can be a powerful tool for exploring issues and gaining insights, regardless of your artistic abilities.
I am passionate about supporting individuals in managing a range of issues, including anxiety, stress, depression, difficult life stages, low self-esteem, confidence, and relationship issues. With my background as a designer and design teacher, I am able to offer non-verbal ways of working together in addition to traditional talk therapy.
My approach is centered around helping you find what you need, rather than adhering to a one-size-fits-all approach. As a Person-Centred therapist, I value and accept each person's unique identity and life experiences. I believe that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to facilitate and support you in finding your own solutions without judgment or advice.
Many clients find it helpful to discuss their problems in a confidential space with a professional, objective, and non-judgmental listener. Some have also found it beneficial to express themselves and explore their issues through a combination of talking and non-verbal art tools. Art and drawing can often give problems a visible form and shape, aiding in the therapeutic process.
I am a general counsellor trained in an Integrative approach, which means I can draw from various therapy modalities to tailor my approach to your individual needs, interests, and treatment preferences. Clients have described my approach as calm, non-judgmental, and encouraging. I am dedicated to helping individuals express themselves, be seen and heard, and live life courageously.
As a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Association for Person-Centred Creative Arts, UK (APPCA), you can trust that I adhere to professional standards and ethics.
I offer both face-to-face and online sessions, and my practice is conveniently located in Newtown, Sydney, near Newtown Station and accessible by bus. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health emergency, please call the Mental Health Line at 1800 011 511, available 24/7.
Change can be challenging, but you don't have to face it alone. Together, we can work towards change and help you enjoy the beautiful view on the other side. Contact me today to book your FREE introductory call before your first session. The duration of therapy will vary depending on your needs and situation, and we will discuss this at the end of the first session. Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all approach β it's different for each person.
