About Albert Park College - Pickles St Campus
Welcome to Albert Park College - Pickles St Campus, located in South Melbourne, Australia. As part of the prestigious Albert Park College, our campus is architecturally designed to embrace its prime inner city location on the edge of Port Phillip Bay, creating a vibrant and inspiring learning environment.
Our main campus at Albert Park College is a beautiful blend of modern design and natural beauty. With large windows and balcony spaces, our teaching areas are flooded with natural light, offering stunning city and sea views. The campus is carefully integrated into the neighborhood, with open areas planted with indigenous species, showcasing our commitment to sustainability. Recycled materials are used throughout the campus, creating a welcoming and eco-friendly atmosphere.
The Environmental Arts Hub Campus, located on Bay St, is a focal point for our pioneering Year 9 DaVinci Program. This program, designed for Middle Year students, combines the study of environmental issues with arts, humanities, and sciences, expanding their knowledge in a unique way. The Bay St campus is a stunning reimagination of two heritage-listed buildings - the former Sandridge Post and Telegraph Office and the Naval Drill Hall. The design highlights the heritage features of both buildings, while incorporating recycled and original materials to create warm and inviting educational spaces.
Our Pickles St campus is housed in the historic Bastow school house, providing a sanctuary of calm for our Year 12 and VCE/IB students. Designed with the understanding of the importance and stress associated with these final college years, the building features tranquil Australian timbers, soft furnishings, and peaceful green tones. It includes a specialist library, intimate classrooms, and indoor/outdoor pavilions, providing students with a space for meditation, yoga, and private study.
Situated on Princes Pier in Port Melbourne, the Gatehouse is a culturally significant heritage site and serves as an external specialist classroom. Restored in 2012, it has been one of Melbourne's premier arrival points for immigrants since 1912. The Gatehouse supports our arts programs and the Da Vinci program's focus on marine environments, offering a unique and inspiring learning space.
Studio 120 is one of our most innovative campuses, created out of the need for additional learning spaces. Located in the heart of Port Melbourne, this urban art studio is inspired by the art lofts of New York. With floor-to-ceiling windows, creative open spaces, and a cafe, Studio 120 provides a unique and inspiring environment for our students.
Construction on our most ambitious project, the Victorian Youth Arts Precinct, is set to begin in the Gasworks Arts Park. This world-class facility will be dedicated to developing young artists and future professionals in the creative industries. Designed by Graham Burrows of Jackson Clements Burrows Architects, the precinct will feature state-of-the-art theaters, training and rehearsal areas, exhibition spaces, and the latest in lighting and audio technologies. The design incorporates the industrial landscape of the site, creating a seamless connection with the Gasworks Arts Park.
Managed jointly with the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS), the Youth Arts Precinct will breathe new life into neglected industrial land, providing a dynamic and inspiring space for the next generation of artists.
At Albert Park College - Pickles St Campus, we are committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students. With our unique campuses and innovative programs, we strive to foster learning, creativity, and wellbeing. Join us on this exciting educational journey and discover your full potential.
