About Smyth Psychology
Welcome to Smyth Psychology, a renowned establishment located at Burbank Place, Norwest in Australia. As a healthcare institution and a point of interest, we are dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their lives from anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.
At Smyth Psychology, we prioritize providing the best possible care and evidence-based treatment methods. Lesley, our experienced clinical psychologist, offers her expertise in assisting individuals with a wide range of psychological issues. Her passion lies in helping people overcome anxiety, whether it be worries, stress, nervousness, fear, or anything that hinders them from pursuing their goals.
Lesley believes in the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance between the therapist and the client. She provides a supportive, understanding, and empathetic ear, ensuring that there is a good fit between her and her clients. Lesley's philosophy revolves around collaboration, where she assists clients by providing skills, encouragement, and alternative perspectives. However, she firmly believes that the client is the expert and the driver of their own life.
With a solid foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Lesley also incorporates other approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and even a touch of humor when appropriate. Most sessions involve learning new skills and strategies that can be practiced between sessions, empowering individuals to take control of their mental well-being.
Lesley is a registered Medicare provider, recognized by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Anxiety Practitioners Network (APN). To ensure the delivery of best practice evidence-based treatments, Lesley regularly participates in training and professional development.
In addition to her private practice at Smyth Psychology, Lesley also works at the Centre for Emotional Health at Macquarie University, a world-renowned center for research and treatment excellence in anxiety disorders and related emotional health concerns. Her experience extends to community mental health, as well as the private and public hospital systems.
Located in the Hills District of North Western Sydney, Smyth Psychology is easily accessible by public transport.
