"this school is a litteral cult ! it has traumatised me, all the teachers are witches and the homework load is insane we barely get to do PE or any type of sport or break in general! Horrible school, avoid like the plague!"
"LCCC. The head Mr Mathews is an Indian guy who has very strict legalistic Christian rules. The school is Christian and teaches Bible but has some extreme stuff. The teachers are 90% Indian. I wouldn’t recommend this school overall"
"Very good school for those who want their kids to be taught in the fear of God. Discipline, caring and responsible teachers. Headmaster and assistants are great. Love this school. Everyone is welcome no matter where you come from. Students are encouraged and good systems are put in place to allow students learn on their own. If you believe in Jesus and want your children to walk with the lord then this is the school for them. JK Lol"
"I am happy not to have got admission for my kid here (don't want to sound like a "sour grapes" situation) however from the interview we had, all I understood was they are looking for kids from Christian families who follow ONLY "their way of worship" , whom they would further train, like in a military camp and produce more "religious recluses" of their kind. How on earth is this being "Christian" when Christianity, emphasizes the importance of treating all people with love, kindness, and respect and rejecting any form of discrimination or prejudice?"
"If you are a parent, and are thinking of enrolling your child here, I suggest you look somewhere else. Firstly the whole modus operandi of the school is, 'live, study, pray, sleep, repeat'. The school leaves little way in developing the personal attributes of students, instead they strip you off everything that is special about you, and turn you into this overzealous fanatical Christian that is only loyal to one principal, and I quote "be fanatical Christians" said by the principal Mr Matthews, but I'll get into him later. The school has expo nights and presentation nights but that is all a con to show parents that the school is engaging in extracurricular activities. Art, music, sports is limited to an extreme legislation where 'everything must be Christian', whereby engaging with other schools in friendly competitions is bad because 'non-Christians are bad'. For higher grades and school leavers at Lighthouse, you don't want your child entering the workforce with an introverted and contained Christian mentality where students think they are better than anyone else because they've been indoctrinated that way by Mr Matthews. I've seen a lot of ex-students struggle to engage with ordinary people, because they've been trained in an environment where anything and everything is Christian, and vice versa 'the only people they should be are Christians'. You wonder why a lot of ex-students never come back to the school, because they simply want to forget how terrible it was. During VCE, students are intentionally indoctrinated with right-wing material (mind you I don't have any problem with right-wing material) when doing their assessments, leaving them with a very self-contained mindset that is detrimental to when they get out into the world. Mr Matthews believes in the idea that all "Non-Christians are bad" and that the "Muslims will bomb everybody" and I quote this. He teaches extremist Christian values to children as young as 6 years old, thinking that he is more morally sound than everybody else. In 2017, a family friend of mine was killed when leaving Princess Highway after her parent-teacher interview. 5 years from now she has been erased from the school's history as a sort of 'black tape' area the school doesn't want to go into because she isn't relevant at all. I have heard instances where ex-Muslims students have been berated and ranted in front of other students by Mr Matthews about their past. Even to the extent where those select students have been brought into Mr Matthews office and confronted with their past affiliations. I truly believe that if some of the things that happen in Lighthouse were brought out into the public light, Mr Matthews would be in prison. Don't bother sending your children for school-camps either as it is an indoctrination camp, where all you do is read the bible and watch a seminar called 'Basic Life Principles'. The speaker of that seminar interestingly enough had sexual allegations filed against him by paying-attendees. I've heard of an instance this one time where in chapel, this student was drinking water (and it was a hot day, so I've been told) while Mr Matthews was speaking, and when Mr Matthews saw it, he pulled him out in front of the entire school to berate him about how ungodly it is. To conclude, parents should never use the excuse of 'being a Christian' as a reason to enrol your son/daughter in this school, if you do indeed care about what he/she becomes in the future. You wonder why many ex-students struggle to relate to anyone else when they get into their places of study/work. My uncle attended expo-night last year out of curiosity (he is ex-air force) and was confronted by Mr Matthews near the stage when he asked my uncle whether he was a Christian or not. Mr Matthews went on a rant saying how people like you "don't deserve to go to heaven". After my uncle and I walked away from the conversation he whispered to me "we used to kill people like that in Afghanistan". It speaks volume when you realise how much of a low-life the principal and deputy-principal are. Thanks."
