About Oakwood School
Welcome to Oakwood School, a government establishment located in Noble Park North, Australia. Our school was specifically created to cater to students who have stopped attending mainstream schools. With multiple campuses across the Southern, South-East, and Mornington Peninsula areas, we provide a safe and supportive learning environment for secondary school aged students who have disengaged from traditional schooling or require a different learning environment to meet their individual needs.
At Oakwood School, we prioritize learning, respect, and empowerment. We believe that all students should have the opportunity to thrive in mainstream school, but understand that for a small percentage of students, this may not be possible. Our dedicated and passionate teachers ensure that each student receives personalized support and guidance, allowing them to reconnect with education and unlock their full potential.
Our student body is diverse, but what they have in common is the experience of trauma in their lives, such as violence, family breakdown, and associated mental health issues. Many of our students have not engaged in learning due to chronic anxiety or specific learning and language difficulties. We provide a nurturing environment where students can expand their knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and overcome these challenges.
Inclusivity, understanding, and empathy are the cornerstones of our school culture. We promote positive relationships, open communication, and a safe and supportive community where every student feels valued and respected. We celebrate diversity and encourage students to appreciate the unique strengths and experiences of others.
Our curriculum is varied and includes subjects such as art, physical education, and vocational training. We believe in equipping our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for a successful future. Through personalized learning plans, individualized support, and opportunities for growth and leadership, we foster resilience and empower our students to overcome challenges and create meaningful pathways towards their goals.
Child safety is of utmost importance to us, and we make an ongoing commitment to ensuring that our policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated. We strive to provide a secure and nurturing environment for all our students.

Reviews of Oakwood School
"My son attends this school. Great teachers and staff who work well with kids to keep them engaged and learning at their own pace and level. No stressful exams or tests and class duration is short and flexibility available with study days. Highly recommend parents to look into this school if their teens have disengaged from mainstream school."
"Oakwood has really helped me with my learning! Before attending Oakwood I “went” to a ‘mainstream’ school and I attended maybe a few days each semester, but with Oakwood I actually enjoy going to school and have been much more productive than any other school I’ve gone to. I most definitely recommend going here if you are struggling to keep up with regular school and have been missing attendance. Edit: The P.E classes and P.E teacher are pretty damn good, and fun too!"
"Great school, great staff, long wait to get enrolled though"
"This school has done wonders for my son,I have already seen so much improvement already"
"This isn't a normal school (or mainstream school), students that attend this are there because they haven't been attending mainstream school. There are different reasons why some kids attend this school, (if I remember right) the main reason for why kids attend this school is because they were being bullied in a mainstream school. If you do get accepted into this school, you'll start out by only attending once a week for an hour and gradually you'll eventually be attending Monday to Friday for 2 hours each day. This school's job is to either get you back into mainstream schools or help you pick the right TAFE course. Even after you leave/graduate, you are more than welcome to return to visit. The staff here actually care about their students, there isn't any form of uniform. There is pizza, fish and chips, McDonald's, milkbar, Cheesecake shop and a restaurant just a short walk away from the school. The 800 bus route stops out the front of McDonald's and in front of Domino's (on the opposite side of the road of domino's), so its an ideal bus route for those attending. You could also get off at Noble Park train station and walk to the school (its about 20 minutes to walk from the train station to the school). I've enjoyed my time here and I do plan to visit when I have the free time. I wish the staff all the best in 2018."
