About Virtual School Victoria
Welcome to Virtual School Victoria (VSV), located in Thornbury, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, VSV is dedicated to providing innovative teaching and technology to facilitate quality learning for all students.
At VSV, virtual learning is at the core of our educational approach. Through online courses, real-time online classes, and face-to-face communication, our students have the opportunity to connect, collaborate, interact, learn, and create. We believe that virtual learning is a powerful tool that enables students to thrive academically, regardless of their circumstances.
Our institution exists to meet the educational needs of Victorian students who are unable to access mainstream schooling. We offer enrollment options for students falling under five categories: medical (physical), medical (social and emotional), travel, sports/performance, distance, or young adults. With VSV, students have the opportunity to pursue their education in a flexible and supportive environment.
In addition, VSV is also an excellent choice for students who wish to maintain their enrollment in a mainstream school. We offer the option to complete single subjects or two subjects (for students in Years 11 and 12) that are not available at their school or due to timetabling clashes. This flexibility allows students to tailor their education to their specific interests and needs.
Don't just take our word for it, here are some testimonials from our students and parents:
- "Studying through VSV gave me the ability to study subjects in high school that weren't offered at my local school in Victoria. The experience offered me a well-rounded education; one that truly prepared me for the 'real-world' once I left school." - Former VSV student
- "VSV has allowed me to combine my education with the training and travel needs for my tennis. I enjoy working independently, and the teachers have been very supportive!" - Current VSV student
- "VSV has provided a supportive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for our daughter, who required an alternative to mainstream schooling. She is now thriving academically, and her self-confidence is flourishing due to the rich curriculum and activities offered to students. We couldn't be more grateful. VSV has changed our lives." - Parent of a VSV student
At VSV, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. Whether you're looking to complete a single subject or seeking a comprehensive education, VSV is here to support you on your educational journey.
For term dates and public holidays, please refer to the Victorian Department of Education & Training Key Dates. Additionally, we are proud to have rolled out 27 new subjects since 2019 as part of the Victorian State Government's initiative to expand the VCE in rural areas.

Reviews of Virtual School Victoria
"It's a lovely school - the staff and SRC are amazing! I was able to swap teachers when the one I had wasn't working for me. If you are struggling - reach out to your Learning Advisor and you'll have a great experience at VSV!"
"I went to a "normal" high school up until this year. Due to health I moved to VSV and it's SO MUCH better. I don't have 100+ appointments squeezed into holidays and can actually try to get ahead or even have a break. Some teachers can be alittle difficult with communication, but can easily go above them to get them to respond. Workload is very flexible (I'm doing VCE too) Teachers are able to have 1-1 meetings regularly I feel like if you don't have the motivation or interest in the work you will fall behind as you don't see your teacher every day and aren't constantly told to do the work. But if you have the ability to independently work, it's AMAZING Highly recommend"
"The student below me in reviews (HRH Dj Stewart) lost all his friends because he started several targeted harassment campaigns against various people and pestered people to do his schoolwork for him, not because the teachers didn't do anything about bullying. VCE units are of very poor quality and whilst the teachers care about your learning, the infrastructure that is used is suboptimal. Compared to the uni I am currently at, the LMS is very poor."
"Alright school. Teachers expect you to do tones of work, it took ages to actually get them to understand what I wanted to do and wanted to achieve. Teachers don't do anything about bullies. Super hard to communicate to teachers, but it has a good idea of what it should be, it's just not build up enough for it to work. Teachers didn't care about my situation and wouldn't do anything to make it was for me. Teachers discriminated me and then kicked me out without supporting me whatsoever. Met some great people thought. But if teachers actually did something about bullying I wouldn't have lost so many friends."
"I have found VSV to be just what I needed. Coming from a homeschooled background, VSV is not very different to what I know. I appreciate the flexibility and understanding of staff. Learning at VSV requires large amounts of discipline. You must be able to study on your own, know when to ask for help and be able to persistently ask until you understand. You must also not be afraid to go against and cross your teachers if the need be (and it's appropriate) Due to the distance, it can be very hard for staff to see what is happening in your life and why you are saying what you are. Therefore on occasion you have to go against their advice. As with every other school, there can be issues while you learn the system and the teachers learn you, especially as it is very different to a brick-and-mortar school. Overall I would recommend VSV."
