About the Business
Welcome to Sacred Heart School Fitzroy, located at 107 King William Street in Fitzroy, Australia. We are a primary school that offers a balanced curriculum with a strong emphasis on mental arithmetic, problem-solving, and number skills. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded education that prepares our students for success in the 21st century.
At Sacred Heart, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school that celebrates the diversity of faiths and cultures within our community. We believe in creating a spirit of welcome and joy, where every child feels valued and accepted.
Technology plays a significant role in enhancing our students' learning opportunities. We provide access to technology for research and communication purposes, allowing our students to develop important digital literacy skills.
In addition to our core curriculum, we offer weekly lessons with specialist teachers to learn a language and important aspects of Deaf culture. We also focus on promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through the development of skills, knowledge, teamwork, and positive attitudes.
Literacy is a top priority at Sacred Heart. We offer Levelled Literacy Intervention for readers from Year 1-6 who require extra assistance. For Year 1 students who haven't yet established effective reading and writing processes, we provide short-term intervention to support their progress. We also implement the PATHS program, which promotes alternative thinking strategies and helps our children develop important social and emotional skills.
We firmly believe that language and literacy development are the most crucial aspects of a child's education. Our structured learning program, which incorporates music, psychology, and neurobiology, helps our students reconnect with themselves and others.
At Sacred Heart, we understand the importance of instilling a love of reading in our students. We believe that reading for pleasure is a vital part of their educational journey. Through our Breakfast Club, families have the opportunity to connect with health, education, and community services.
Our school provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can play, enjoy friendships, and develop. We take pride in being a part of the Fitzroy community and actively contribute through our seasonal harvest, sharing our produce with the broader school community.
As the Principal of Sacred Heart, I am honored to work alongside the dedicated staff and parents to ensure that every child's spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs are met. We strive to create a supportive learning environment that fosters success and prepares our students for lifelong learning.
Community is highly valued at Sacred Heart. As the Catholic School in All Saints Parish, we embrace the values taught by Jesus in the Gospels. We welcome children and families from all nationalities and faith traditions, creating a richly diverse population.
We believe in the power of collaboration between school and home. We actively engage our families in a shared conversation about learning, recognizing the importance of the learning partnership. For our current families, we are grateful for the trust you have placed in us. And for those considering Sacred Heart for your child, we invite you to come and see our school. We are confident that you will not be disappointed.
Thank you for considering Sacred Heart School Fitzroy. With gratitude,
Matthew Shawcross

"english u12 students know what this is"
"This school is amazing. I'll always be so thankful for the wonderful teachers at Sacred Heart and the help they gave our children. The staff are just exceptional and it is a beautiful school community. It is such a happy environment."
"Although this school is very welcoming and full of joy it needs some miner improvements. One time when I was walking around Fitzroy, I saw a bunch of kids mucking around with the water tap system, wasting water. They were also playing with plastic bags, leaving them to fly away and pollute the environment. Soon I have noticed the kids that were mucking around were the kids that go to your school. Please take notice to this review. All and all this school is a very good school but the students need help."
"This school is actually bad. The kids and families are a cover up for what goes on. The school has a low amount of teachers so they had to improvise. For example, a teacher on one year taught English then the next year she taught sports. The school grounds very dirty, it's filled with plastic bags and the classrooms are squeezed together for example grades 3 and 4 share the same class so it would be hard for the grade 3s to keep up to the grade 4s. The school is not as friendly as you think from the advertising you see from the front of the school. The students of the school can be very nasty. Fights often happen on the grounds. For example, a soccer match happened on King William St, two boys had an argument then a fight occurred. The fight was so large that one of the boys punched a teacher while she was trying to separate them a few years ago. People might know the school's music program where the students perform for people with their teacher but the secret is that the students are actually very bad at playing their instruments. They will play very basic patterns while the music teachers will play the whole song making the illusion that the children are talented. Trust me I was a student at this school. If you had your children go to this school for a couple of years they would say that they would dislike the school. Do not go or send your kids to this school. I gave you the reasons why this school is bad. Coming from a student who did go to this school. I did not make this up. I highly recommend you to not go to this school. I would give this a zero star because it is that bad but it have to rate it so one star. Do not go!!! And the school needs some improvements if it wants to be known to Melbourne This is feedback."
"Beautiful children and beautiful families. Such a welcoming school community. Highly recommend"
