About St Leonard's College
Welcome to St Leonard's College, a prestigious educational institution located in Brighton East, Australia. Our college offers a diverse range of opportunities for students to thrive in a loving and nurturing environment that focuses on developing the whole child.
At St Leonard's College, we pride ourselves on providing an exceptional education that allows our students to achieve excellence. We offer two prestigious programs, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), giving our students the flexibility to choose the path that best suits their academic goals.
We are proud to announce the outstanding academic achievements of our Class of 2022, with a median IBDP ATAR of 97.6 and two perfect scores of 45 (ATAR 99.95). Our combined IBDP/VCE median ATAR of 87.0 showcases the dedication and hard work of our students.
As an International Baccalaureate World School, we provide our students with an expertly designed international framework, coupled with the highly sought-after choice of both the VCE and IBDP in year 12. This ensures that our students receive a well-rounded and globally recognized education.
In addition to our rigorous academic programs, we believe in the importance of a rich and diverse cocurriculum. Our students have the opportunity to explore and develop their skills and interests through activities such as sport, outdoor education, music, drama, debating, and public speaking.
At St Leonard's College, we prioritize building strong relationships with our students. We strive to give each child a sense of being known, nurtured, and loved, fostering their confidence and optimism as they navigate the world.
We also instill in our students a strong sense of social responsibility through community service, fundraising, and social action programs. We believe in preparing our students to be meaningful contributors to society, both locally and globally.
Our programs are tailored to meet the needs of students at every age and stage of their educational journey. From our world-renowned Reggio Emilia approach in our Early Learning Centre for children aged three to five, to our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in our McMillan House Junior School, we provide an enriching and stimulating educational experience.
For years 5 and 6, we offer specialist educators across all subjects, ensuring that our students receive the highest quality instruction from experts in their fields. Our Middle School programs support students during this transformative time of change and growth, offering a wide range of opportunities for exploration.
In our Senior School, students have the valuable choice between the VCE and IBDP, preparing them for success beyond our school gates. Our programs are designed to support their transition into the next phase of their lives.
The TOK Exhibition, a pivotal element of the IBDP, showcases the transformative power of knowledge exploration and critical thinking. We also take pride in the research conducted by our educators, such as Alex Parrington, our IB PYP Coordinator, whose PhD research focuses on shifting students towards experiential learning inspired by nature and the outdoors.
We invite you to explore our campus, from the Leonardian Centre Foyer to the Senior School Cafeteria, and experience the exceptional education and opportunities that St Leonard's College has to offer. Join us in shaping the future of our students and empowering them to make a positive impact on the world.

Reviews of St Leonard's College
"Best thing about the school are the teachers and staff. Throughout the multiple lockdowns in the previous years, our kids were well supported with regular teacher/mentor check ins and great use of tech to continue learning with minimal disruption. In the higher year groups, there is a strong academic program but overall we found the school had a well rounded focus on academics and student well-being."
"Great school nothing bad happened yet. But can be very strict and if there is a friendship fire they seem not to care and only get the parents involved if the children care. And new phone policy is not the best because it was my friends birthday and we were surprising my friend at her locker and we were gonna video her reaction and two of my friend were on two angles to recorded her and the teacher came and ruined it for all of us because of the stupid phone policy something need to change about that."
"has zero regard for the happiness of their students. the phone policy is stupid, and the school’s elitist culture results in students feeling ostracised & pressured. while stl has good learning opportunities, high academic expectations, and diverse music programs, the culture and some of the staff and management can make the experience not worth the money."
"Beautiful setting and grounds. Teaching staff are exceptional - genuinely care and really good quality. Pastoral care is the best I have seen. Culture and kids is great. Not a big emphasis on winning and marketing - more interested in producing well rounded and successful members of our community. Great school."
"My daughter attended St Leonard’s for the last two years of her schooling. I cannot rate the teaching and pastoral staff highly enough. She did incredibly well. Was made to feel part of the community very quickly and was able to enjoy her love of musical theatre and music. If I had more children they would be sent to STL. Thank you for everything."
