Welcome to South Yarra Preschool, located on Malvern Road in South Yarra, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest in the community, our school has been empowering and supporting Melbourne's children and young people since 1883.

At South Yarra Preschool, we are proud to be a part of Sparkways (formerly TRY Australia), a movement dedicated to empowering and inspiring Victoria's children and young people. With our team of fantastic professional teachers, we provide a wonderful preschool experience where kids can learn and grow.

Situated on Boon Wurrung land and part of the Kulin Nation, we acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional owners of this land, the Boon Wurrung people. We are committed to fostering Indigenous children's pride in their heritage and culture, while also promoting understanding and respect among non-Indigenous children, families, and staff.

Our program is designed to take advantage of our outdoor setting, as we believe that outdoor play offers equal learning opportunities. The carefully planned outdoor environment supports and encourages all aspects of children's learning, which is why we run an indoor/outdoor program.

Innovation, excitement, and support are at the heart of our program. We aim to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can grow, learn, and develop. We believe in the power and capability of children, and we strive to promote their voices and interests in our program.

Building positive and caring relationships is fundamental to our work at South Yarra Preschool. We understand that children learn through relationships with people, places, and the environment, and we prioritize trust and respect in these relationships. Our commitment to social justice ensures that all children have access to quality services and programs.

Our educational program is guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the Early Years Learning Framework For Australia. We offer both 3-year-old and 4-year-old groups, with sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

To make high-quality kindergarten programs accessible, the Victorian Government provides funding for children in the two years before they start school. And starting in 2023, kindergarten programs will be free for three and four-year-old children, thanks to the Best Start, Best Life reform.

At South Yarra Preschool, we understand that every child is unique and reaches milestones at their own pace. Toilet training is not a requirement for attendance, and we are here to support you and your child during this process.

As a sun-safe organization, we provide child-friendly sunscreen, but if your child has sensitive skin, you are welcome to provide your preferred brand.
