Let us walk you through the battery manufacturing process. It all starts with the production of a plastic container and cover, typically made of polypropylene. The case is divided into six sections, resembling an ice-cube tray, with the cover sealing the top of the container when the battery is complete.

Next, lead or an alloy of lead and other metals is used to create grids or plates, which are essential for conducting a charge in the battery. A paste mixture of lead oxide powder, sulphuric acid, water, and additives is then applied to the grids, forming positive and negative plates.

To prevent short circuits, separators made of thin, porous, insulating material are used to separate the positive and negative plates inside the battery. These separators allow electrical current to flow while maintaining a barrier between the plates.

The positive and negative plates, along with the separators, are paired together to create an element. Each element corresponds to a battery cell or compartment within the battery container. These elements are dropped into the cells, connected with a conductive metal, and welded with lead terminals (posts). Finally, the battery is filled with electrolyte (sulphuric acid and water mixture) and the cover is attached.

The last step is charging the battery. A power source is connected to the terminals, and the battery undergoes a lengthy charging process. This converts the paste in the positive plate to a different form of lead oxide and transforms the paste in the negative plate to spongy lead. Once the battery is fully charged, it is ready for the market.
