Maribyrnong Kindergarten

Welcome to Maribyrnong Kindergarten, a cherished institution located at Maribyrnong, Warrs Road, 5 in Australia. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, we take great pride in providing a nurturing and exciting learning environment for young minds to flourish.

At Maribyrnong Kindergarten, we value and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging. We are grateful to share this land today, while also recognizing the costs and striving for equity, justice, and partnership together.

The name "Maribyrnong" is derived from the Aboriginal term ‘Mirring-gnay-bir-nong’, which translates to ‘I can hear a ringtail possum’. This name reflects the connection to nature and the environment that we strive to foster in our kindergarten.

Our curriculum is play-based and child-centered, offering a challenging and engaging educational experience. We believe in the power of outdoor exploration and have integrated a bush kinder program into our curriculum. Each child attends one session per week at our bush kinder site, providing them with opportunities to experience nature in all seasons. We recognize the significance of the land in Indigenous Australian culture and aim to instill a deep appreciation for the bush and its elements.

We are proud to announce that Maribyrnong Kindergarten received an EXCEEDING rating during our assessment in August 2022. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality education and care for our students.

As a community, non-profit kindergarten, we are run by a committee of parents/volunteers called the committee of management. This unique structure allows our members to actively participate in the collaborative running of the kindergarten and play an integral role in the wider kinder community. We value the input and involvement of our members, as it strengthens our sense of community and enriches the experiences we offer.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Victorian Government for their support in enabling us to provide exceptional early childhood education and care.
